After making her way back from the Pokemon Lab, Merit made a quick stop by at home just long enough to introduce her father to her new Pokemon. Apolline. Merit and her father sat down at the dinner table engaging in small talk and enjoying a nice lunch that was prepared by their cook. "I cannot believe that the day has finally came for you to start your very own journey as a Pokemon Trainer, Merit. Your mother would be so proud of you right now, if she could see you. I don't want to give you a long lecture or anything, but I want you to remember that you are not alone on this journey, you will create many friends with Pokemon and other trainers. The bonds that you manage to create with other people will become quite important to you. Also, you can get through almost anything as long as you trust and believe in yourself and your Pokemon. I know, all of this sounds a little cliche, but it is the truth. I know that you will do fine on your journey. You have learned a lot about Pokemon at the trainer school, so this should be a piece of cake for you, right?" Merit's father spoke, offering his daughter a soft smile. Merit nodded her head and smiled back at her father. Everything that he told her had made complete sense. She definitely believed in herself as well as Apolline, if she did not believe in the small Torchic then she never would have chosen her to be partner. She was overly excited about starting her new journey on her own, but she was also a little nervous, too.
"Thanks for the pep-talk dad. Believe it or not, it really meant a lot to me." She smiled before sliding out of her chair. "I'm going to do my best to become the best Pokemon Trainer that I can be. I will make you proud, mom, too! Don't worry, I will remember to stop by and check up on you every once in a while, too!" She stated, walking over towards her father and giving him a tight hug.
"I know that you will make us proud. You are more than welcome to come back home whenever you feel like you need a break. I will be here awaiting your return." He smiled as he hugged his daughter back. "Now, you should go get a move on before the sunsets. Oh yeah, don't forget to stop by the bike shop and pick yourself up a bike before heading off." He added as he pulled away.
Merit nodded her head. "I will dad. See you later. Take care, love you!" She shouted, waving goodbye before exiting out of the door.
She inhaled and exhaled a deep breath as she exited her house. It was time for her to start her journey. However, before making her way towards the next town or city she needed to stop by the bike shop and purchase herself a bike. She headed off into the direction of the shop, humming a cheerful tune as she continued to walk through the city. While walking along the path, she felt something moving around in her back pack. "Huh?" She asked herself, coming to a quick halt and taking off her back pack. It was not long before she nodded a small yellow head with spiky black ears poking out of her back pack. "Zeus! What are you doing in here?" She asked the small Pichu, chuckling a bit. The Pichu glanced up at Merit and gave her the cutest smile. "You want to travel with me, huh?" Zeus nodded his head and squealed a bit. "Well, I don't believe that dad would mind too much. I will just have to be sure to remind him later. Wouldn't want him to panic searching for you." She giggled a little more before sliding her back pack over her shoulders again. Meanwhile, Zeus had managed to climb out of the bag and took a seat on her right shoulder.
She walked around the city for a couple of more minutes before making her way towards the bike shop. Unfortunately, there was a closed signed on the door. "This unfortunate. I guess we would have to try again another day." She sighed, shaking her head in disappointment. "No worries, we will just head towards Route 110 and do a little bit of training there. Maybe, once you two become stronger then we will be able to challenge the Gym Leader before leaving leaving Mauville for a while." She stated turning away from the shop and heading towards Route 110.

Starting her journey and disappointed that the bike shop was closed, Merit went south of Mauville city and began exploring the route. The route was quite unique to it as the cycling road is a bridge on top of the Pokemon's habitats in the bottom. Outside of the initial construction phase and occasional maintenance, the Pokemon are pretty much undisturbed. Not to mention, the route is a small path surrounded by the oceans, one can hear the sound of crashing waves and cyclist at the same time! A Plusle was walking when it stopped and noticed something in the air. Perhaps it was the static that the Pichu was giving off from its backpack, but this red ear mouse could feel electricity in the air. It perked its ears and stopped in the road, looking around and squeaking softly. When it saw the human coming, it slowly approached and looked up, finding the source of weak static a bit stronger.
A (Level 4) Plusle appeared! It can have hidden ability Lightning Rod!

Merit continued to hum a cheerful tune as she continued to travel towards Route 110. The sound of the waves crashing against the massive boulders and the sounds of the bicycle chains coming from the Cycling Road echoing though her sensitive ears. Zeus let out a loud coo as his ears also picked up on the various sounds surrounding him. A few sparks of electricity lighting up around his cute, pink cheeks due to all of the excitement running through his body. A couple of soft giggles escaping from Merit's mouth as she noticed her Pokemon's excitement to be traveling along with her.
It was not too much longer before Merit and Zeus encountered their first Wild Pokemon. It was a cute little Plusle. A few more sparks of electricity escaping from Zeus' cheeks as he noticed another fellow electric friend. Zeus let out a blissful cheer as he leaped off his trainer's shoulders and dashed over towards the Plusle, his cheeks releasing even more electricity as he rubbed up against the Plusle and greeted it with a friendly shock. Apparently, it was the way that most young electric-types greeted each other. Merit would watch as the two electric-type Pokemon would interact with each other for a few seconds before approaching them both.
"Well, it looks like you've made a new friend little Zeus." She giggled kneeling down a bit to get on their level. "Hello Plusle. I'm Merit and this little fella right here is Zeus. We're just starting off on our very first Pokemon adventure and we're hoping to get some training done on this route. Would you mind having a Pokemon battle with me? Of course, you wouldn't be facing off against Zeus. I would lie for him to watch another one of my Pokemon battle first before attempting to train him." She explained to the Wild Pokemon, hoping that it would accept her offer.
"Apolline, it's battle time!" She called out tossing her red and white sphere into the air and releasing her Torchic. "Zeus, watch carefully how it's done. Ember then follow up with Scaratch!"

Plusle squealed and giggled as it greeted the Pichu, and it was like the most adorable sight ever of two mousey Pokemon greeting each other. It then accepted the human's offer and ran several steps away, keeping its distance from whatever Pokemon she'll sent out. Out from the Pokeball was a Torchic, something that the Plusle had seen time to time in this route. Running forward toward the young chic, the mouse greeted the Torchic with the same cheek rub it did earlier. Although this one seemed like with a little jolt in it. Apolline quickly felt electricity ran through her body, numbering her movement. This cute little fella was a little trickier than it looked! Thankfully, the young fowl fought through the paralysis and fired a volley of ember at the Plusle, burning some grass a little and burning the mouse's skin a little. The Plusle released a thunderwave quickly, as a reaction. However, since Apolline was already paralyzed, it did nothing. Then, the Torchic ran forward and leaped, scratching the red eared mouse with her sharp feet. The Plusle fell backward, and after a few seconds, got itself to a safe distance for the Torchic's next move.

Zeus' eyes watched as he watched the Pokemon battle taking place right in front of him. At first, he felt a little bad about each Pokemon taking damage from each other. However, he quickly got over it after the realized that his friends didn't seem to be hurt too bad. A cheerful cry escaped from his mouth as he watched the exciting battle continue to carry on. Apolline appeared to have been slowed down a bit, but she still managed to break through the paralysis and land her attacks. The Plusle appeared to be visibly weakened at this point.
"You're doing an amazing job out there Apolline. Keep up the good work!" Merit shouted, cheering on her Pokemon. Zeus soon started to mimic his trainer's actions and starting cheering on his friend, too. "That should be good enough right there. Stand off, Apolline." Merit commanded in a calm tone. She then took out an empty Poke Ball and tossed it gracefully at the wild Pokemon, hoping to capture it.

Apolline chirped happily in response to her trianer and fellow Pokemon's encouragement on doing great in the battle so far. Despite being paralyzed, the small chick managed to attack the opponent like the paralysis didn't happened. Though just as the chick thought that the next course of action was more attack, it turned out Merit had a different idea in mind. The small bird watched as a Pokeball flew forward, and quickly descended on the electric Pokemon and then warped it inside the sphere. The ball shook to the right a bit. Then to the left. Ding! The Pokemon was captured successfully! Perhaps it was the fate o the static electricity that brought this Plusle to the scene, now this electric mouse have another electric friend and a warm bird to befriend!
Apolline gained 2 levels and +10 happiness! Plusle is captured! 1 Pokeball deducted! A small smile quickly curved against Merit's lips as she watched the Poke Ball come to a complete halt. "Awesome! We did it! We just captured out first Pokemon!" Merit shouted as she made a fist and pointed it towards the sky. Zeus and Apolline both jumping up and down in excitement. "Okay, now we just need to think of a name for this little guy. I'm thinking about.. Rai. Yeah, Rai is a perfect name for our new friend." She replied smiling a little more as she picked up the Poke Ball and place it on her side. "Let's keep moving forth. I would like to do some more training." She stated, moving along the route again. She would probably end up storing the Plusle into her P.C., since she already had a reliable electric-type Pokemon on her team. She wanted to keep her team as balanced out as she can keep it. Honestly, she only caught the Plusle, because Zeus had made a quick friend with him. Apolline and Zeus nodded their head as they followed after their trainer. Excited with the thrill of having captured her first Pokemon, the trainer school graduate had tucked away the newly captured Pokemon's Pokeball into a safe place, where the Plusle would be called when it was needed. As she continued the explore the route, her movement along the tall grasses had attracted another Pokemon, another electric type Pokemon to be exact. Yapping loudly and running toward the human, the Electrike seemed to be in distressed! Maybe it was angry, or it was hungry, or it was bored and looking for attention! Whatever the case it was, it had decided that Merit would be the one to help solve its problem. When it got close, it slowed down and approached slowly, keeping on yapping, of course.

While traveling a little further down the route, Merit soon noticed that small electrical sparks were starting to surround her Pichu's pale pink cheeks again. "Zeus, what is it? Do you sense another electric-type near by?" Merit asked as she came to quick halt and stared down small mouse. Zeus let out another cheerful cry before running around in small circles around in his trainer's feet in an energetic manner. Merit shook her head and giggled at the sight. "Well, I'm definitely going to take that as a yes."" She giggled a little more then turning her attention away from Zeus and focus it back on the route ahead of them. It was not long before the golden-haired female noticed a frantic Electrike running into their direction. "Wha-what is going on?" She asked out loud, watching as the Wild Pokemon continued to run towards her and her Pokemon. The Electrike appeared to have been in some sort of danger. A few seconds passed and a group of Gulpin appeared, chasing after the lone canine-like Pokemon. Zeus quickly leaped out in front of the Electrike, his pale, pink cheeks dancing with electricity. Apolline soon stood beside her partner, her eyes running with fire. Without a verbal command both Zeus and Apolline sent forth an attack towards the Gulpin. Zeus used his Thunder Shock and Apolline used her Ember. The two attack combined together and made a small explosion in front of the enraged Gulpin, causing them to flee from the scene.
"Hey, are you okay?" Merit asked the Electrike, kneeling down a bit to get a better view of the Pokemon. However, the Electrike did not say anything to the human. Instead, it glanced up at her with both sadness and fear in its eyes. If she did not know any better, she would have thought that the Pokemon was feeling a little ill. A couple of seconds passed and a sickly purple colored blush appeared on the Electrike's face. "I know that blush from anywhere. You're suffering from poison." She stated, shaking her head. The poor Electrike was definitely not in the best condition right now. The Electrike let out a faint cry before collapsing in front of Merit. "Oh no! Apolline and Zeus thanks for protecting this Electrike, but we have to go now. We have to take it to the nearest Pokemon Center." She stated, carefully picking up the fainted Pokemon and caring it the Pokemon Center, her own Pokemon following behind her.
"Nurse Joy! I need your help, this Electrike has been badly poisoned. It was attack by a group of Gulpin!" She yelled through the Pokemon Center in a bit of a panic herself as she rushed towards the receptionist counter.

Encountering yet another electric Pokemon, Merit was amused by her Pokemon attracting Pokemon like its kind. However, the Pokemon seemed to be outnumbered by being chased by a group of Gulpin. Using her Pokemon's abilities to cause a distraction, the trainer created an explosion just enough to let them escape. Upon a closer inspection, the Electrike was indeed sick from the Gulpin's poison attacks. The female quickly got the wild Pokemon to the nearest Pokemon for treatment, or the Electrike would be left vomiting and sick for another couple hours before the poison would be detoxed from its body. Once arrived in the Pokemon Center, Nurse Joy cheerfully took the weakened Pokemon for treatment. After waiting a few anxious moment, she came back with an Electrike who felt as good as new, physically. Well, it would still like to pay back the Gulpin for outnumbering and stealing its lunch. The electric dog wasted no time and leaped out as soon as it was rolled back to the lobby with the front door in view. If Merit would follow it, it turned out that two younger Gulpins were spying on the Pokemon Center for the basically any Pokemon being brought by human to heal, being instructed to defeat the Pokemon for not finishing the battle, if not dragging the human into the fray.
Two Gulpins (Level 2) (Level 2) is blocking your way! One of them can have hidden ability Gluttony. Send a Pokemon (or two) to battle! OOC: They just know the move Pound. A sigh of relief escaped from Merit's lips as she watched the kind nurse return back with the Electrike in amazing shape. "Thank you so much Nurse Joy!" Merit spoke with a voice full of gratitude as she gently took the Electrike from Nurse Joy and placed it in her arms. She had to admit that she was slowly starting to feel attached to Wild Pokemon. Apolline and Zeus cooed her excitement as the two of them noticed that the Electrike appeared to be in better shape than before meeting them. A few seconds passed before the Electrike had managed to hop out of Merit's arms and rushed out of the entrance of the Pokemon Center. "Electrike! Wait up!" She called out, chasing behind the small electric dog.
Outside of the entrance of the Pokemon Center, Merit's emerald eyes quickly made contact with the Wild Gulpin. "I thought that we had got rid of them." She hissed, glaring at the small poison-types. She then glanced over at the Electrike, noticing the fiery passion burning within its eyes. The Electrike definitely wanted its revenge against those two. Zeus glanced up at his trainer before rushing out towards the Gulpin. The small Pichu wanted to help his new friend take down those bullies. Merit smirked and nodded her head. "Okay, let's do this. I hope you don't mind us fighting with you." She spoke, smiling at the Electrike. "Zeus! Let's try your Thunder Shock, give both of them a zap!" She commanded out loud. The Pichu nodded his head before sending a jolt of electricity from his pale cheeks at the first Gulpin then another jolt of electricity towards the second one. "Umm, Electrike, can you use Tackle on one of the Gulpin?" She asked, not too sure what attacks the Electrike may be able to use.
Zeus will use Thunder Shock on each Gulpin. Electrike will use Tackle?

While poison types Pokemon were to make their opponent sick to give them an advantage, these two Gulpins seemed a little bit small, and too young for to use their chemical arsenal. Seeing how far they have chased the Electrike out of the route, they seemed to be young curious Pokemon who were strayed from the route a bit too far, farther than their group would have been. As Zeus came out, the Gulpins were a little uneasy, as the electric dog now have an electric mouse to help. The Pichu released an amateur jolt of electricity at one of the Gulpins, but it wasn't powerful enough to paralyze it. The Electrike followed suit, running forward and barking as it chased after the momentarily stunned Gulpin and slammed the living stomach as hard as it could. Then, the two Gulpins retaliated by pounding the Electrike with their yellow head-fin thing. Zeus squeaked and continued to use another Thundershock on the other one, but both poison types seemed to be fixated on Electrike. Thankfully, the canine went forward on the weakened one from earlier and finished it off by giving it another good boy slam.

Within seconds the double battle took a fast pace. Merit had never experienced a double Pokemon battle on her own, but she had watched a couple of them take place at the Pokemon Trainer School, and she had also read a book or two about the battling style. She was somewhat confident that the overall knowledge that she had gained over the years would be more than enough to bring her to victory. So far, Zeus and the Wild Electrike seem to be able to work together without too much of an issue. In fact, the two electric-types had managed to knock out one of their opponents. "Good work you two. Now, we can put our focus on battling against only one of them. Zeus use another Thunder Shock and Electrike follow up with another Tackle!" Merit smiled as she pointed her index trainer towards the last Gulpin, hoping that her Pokemon's next attack would be able to finish it off, too.
Zeus used Thunder Shock. Electrike used Tackle.

Whether it was the effort of team work or the Gulpins were just really weak, the combined attacks from both electric Pokemon were able to take out the poison types quickly. After the first one was down, the second one wasn't going to be fighting for much longer. Zeus fired another shot of thundershock, and the Electrike slammed the Gulpin from another direction. Soon, the victory was Merit's, and the Electrike's. The electric canine turned toward the human, approaching in a more friendly way, yapping happily and running in circle around her. Then, it sat down and gazed at the human, wondering if it could join her team. If not, then it just got stronger today from the battles! Then, quietly, the two poison types seized the opportunity and sneaked away, disappeared from the spot they passed out on.
Zeus gained 2 levels from defeating Gulpin A! Zeus gained 1 level from defeating Gulpin B! He gained +10 happiness from the battle! Electrike gained 2 levels from defeating Gulpin A!
