Day three: On Safari (Lilycove) Mirella had gotten a promotion ticket from Hoenn's Safari Zone in Lilycove. She had spend a day mulling it over and preparing herself for a one day trip. In the end she had decided it was an opportunity for her to get out of the house, out of Petalburg, no strings attached. She brought her full team, and made an effort to think of all the new Pokemon as partners like Whiskas. Some were easier than others. Fly was a pleasure, and so was Lily. Caddis was making everything a hard time, and she hadn't quite found out how she felt about Kaleo. The Poochyena was funny thouhg, and she had yet to regret her decision to track one down. The Poochyena had seemed a bit moody, but as long Mirella made sure to entertain and feed her, nothing was wrong. They would all benefit from a trekking day in new surroundings. The ticket included a free ride to the Safari, by bird, a Pidgeot it turned out, and Mirella felt quite intimidated by it by the pure size of it. She had never seen one so big. The handler was very professional though, and talked her through it all. The bird did the work, and all Mirella had to do was keep on the back. Her stomach almost lost its breakfast at the jump to the sky, but Mirella held herself together and kept quiet all the way. She was very happy to find herself on the ground once more, when it was over. They were a surprisingly small group of visitors today. Mirella didn't really look at anyone. She listened to the instructions, and studied the map of the Safari Zone, before deciding which area had her interest. Unfortunately, she couldn't visit the Lake, but that was definitely something worth considering a revisit another time. For now the Marsh looked the most interesting, and Mirella followed the signs to that exact place suitly dressed in boots and carrying a long stick. She was fully prepared to get muddy and wet. After understanding and following the instruction that came with the prize winning, Mirella got on her ride and found herself In the Safari Zone next to Lilycove City. The area was quite big for a person to go through in one day, but thankfully, this prize winning ticket would be a nice sneak peek for the trainer, should she return in the future. Getting herself suited for the muddy and wet marsh, the young trainer was ready to trek the area. The marsh is an area characterized by wet and muddy ground, probably from plants growing there that don't drain the water fast enough. However, the area also encourage grasses to grow tall, yet at the same time discourage most trees to grow from the lack of solid foundation. This also created a perfect habitat for Pokemon that could benefit from the biome created. As Mirella was traveling with her long stick, a lot of Pokemon seemed to be rustling subtly, perhaps watching another visitor in their home. Something seemed to splashed away, while something else seemed to have hopped away. However, something else was actually chirping. A small, blue bug Pokemon faced the human bravely, jumping up and down to reveal itself from the concealing tall grass. It looked cute in its own way, and unlike others, it seemed interested in the human here. Perhaps it wanted to say hello?

Day three: On Safari (Lilycove) Mirella enjoyed the wet environment though it wasn't a lake or the sea. Luckily, she wasn't in any hurry either, or the difficulty in moving along the given path might have caused some frustration. There were stepping stones layed out, so one didn't risk getting stuck completely or disappear into the swampy surface, but it still took work to get from one stone to another, and Mirella was careful. The air smelled moist in a way Mirella hadn't felt for a long time, and somewhat different from the ocean that always carried the crash taste of salt with it. Mirella decided she definitely needed to visit all kinds of wet places to get the sense of every type of watery air. She didn't know what she had expected in regards with the Pokemon living here. Somehow she thought it should have felt different from taking a forest walk, but in some sense it was very much the same. She could hear the rustle of the inhabitants, and see very little, and then one appeared in what she could only describe as curiosity. Mirella halted on the next stone and watched the Pokemon appear in the tall grass in jumping intervals. Finally, she decided it must be curious, and waved at it while she called: "Hi, wanna play with some of my Pokemon?"That would give her an opportunity to see it up closer, and her own Pokemon could stretch their legs too. She called forth Kaleo first, thinking he would like to splash around in the almost water. He started out by growling cute in invitation to the bug, and took a couple of 'swim strokes' in the mud. (Ooc: Kaleo goes first, and uses Growl. Wordcount: 279)

The bug Pokemon could hear the human stopped and talked, and wondered what Pokemon she would send out to play with. Out from the Pokeball was a young Tympole. Being a shallow water Pokemon, the muddy and wet environment in the marsh was a refreshing experience to the water Pokemon, instead of swimming in the lake. Kaleo probably had experienced mud before, but singing in muddy ground instead of underwater requires a different technique that he wasn't familiar with. The water Pokemon began growling cutely at the bug, but Karrablast had a different feel about this water Pokemon. Maybe it was the way the sound vibrated in the mud, or the fact that the Karrablast have Pidgeotto and Yanma in vicinity so it'll be hearing wings buzzing and beaks chirping every day, but something about the way the sound produced rubbed the Karrablast in the wrong way. Or maybe even Kaleo was a young singer and today the sound wasn't as pleasing. The bug hopped on a stepping stone to face the water Pokemon, and shot a leer at it, sending a body language that it didn't like what it was listening.

The Karrablast this time went along and played with the Bubbles. It tried to play with bubbles by the lake the other time, but it nearly drown, but it was saved by a Magikarp flopping and flung it back on land. Hopping between a few stones back and forth and chasing the nearest Bubble it could reach before they popped, the young bug seemed to be enjoying itself. Though on one jump, it landed on the ground flat and hurt itself! It giggled a bit and seemed to endure the fall. Then, it for back up and chased another stream of bubbles, and giggled along. When Kaleo needed to take a breath, the bug type was disappointed and slapped the little water Pokemon, chirping and hopping to express how upset it was that the Bubble was stopped. It was so much fun!

Day three: On Safari (Lilycove) Kaleo was relieved, when the bubbles proved more of a success, and he laughed along and jumped around in the mud, trying to imitate the Karrablast's movements. He splashed closer in worry, when the Karrablast fell, but luckily it didn't seem to mind the accident so much. What it did mind was Kaleo pausing his bubbles to get a breath of air. "Yeah, yeah, I'll blow more in a bit." Kaleo tried to ease his audience, and rushed to produce a new stream. Mirella had squatted down to get on eye level with the playing Pokemon, while she looked the Karrablast up. It was indeed a peculiar species, and though she didn't know if she actually liked it, she was aware of the limits set for the day. She was allowed to catch whatever she met, however she saw fit, but as soon as she had encountered 3 Pokemon in the area, she had to go back. Mirella understood this was to protect the habitat and keep it healthy, and thought it wise too, but it did put her in a bit of a dilemma. She didn't wish to walk away empty-handed. Maybe she could bring it out as a gift for her father. Decision made she found one of her few Pokeballs, and called out softly to the playmates. "You look like you could use a break about now. What would you say to coming with us, Karrablast? Then you can play again later." After giving her offer she held out the Pokeball and tossed it in a small curve towards the Karrablast. (Ooc: Kaleo uses Bubble, and then Mirella throws a Pokeball. Wordcount: 263)

Letting her Pokemon played with the wild Pokemon for a bit more, the Tympole blew another stream of bubble while the Karrablast jumped up and down and ran around chasing them on walking stones. It landed face flat again on the ground, but it was glad to have so much fun! When it was in the middle of getting up, it was sucked into a Pokeball so quick that it didn't have time to react. The Pokeball shook on the right on the stone path. DING! The Pokemon was captured without much of a struggle. Given the size of the Pokemon and the few times it landed its face on the ground, maybe it was a little hurt to fight back being captured. Or, it just wanted to play more with this human.

Day three: On Safari (Lilycove) Mirella didn't know if her words had even been heard. Maybe she had preempted the throw of the Pokeball a little, not taking into account that the bug was a bit busy and might take longer to figure out what she was doing than normal. However it happened, the ball dinged far quicker than Mirella had expected, and she could pick it up from the stone path without having to dig through a lot of mud. Kaleo chimed a tune to her from the mud, and she almost couldn't see him through the caking. She laughed a little. "You'll need a dip in real water when we get home." She noted, and pocketed her new catch without further ado. Kaleo splashed onto the stone and made a few more bubbles around himself to get at least some of the dirt off. When he was done, Mirella recalled him thinking it was the easiest to walk by herself. She had only seen a small part of the place and she wanted to get as much out of the day as possible. Kaleo was joyful company, but he was a bit slow travelling. Continueing along the stone path Mirella looked around hoping to spot a higher vantage point with a view of the area. The tall grass and reeds didn't make it easy though. The area she had picked was mostly flat she pressumed, but there might be trees or platforms made for looking over the area. Something she had forgot to ask the staff about. (Ooc: Kaleo learns Bubble Beam and forgets Bubble. Please box Karrablast blank for now. After picking up her first capture in the safari, Mirella continued to explore this area of safari marsh to find another Pokemon to encounter. The area didn't take long to get her attention again, as the Karrablast captured earlier might have been friend or enemy with another species of Pokemon, called Shelmet. This creature might have watched the battle earlier of Kaleo and Karrablast. Before she could step a little too far, the bug type vomited an acid at a stone rock and made a splash. (Thankfully, the rocks were able to withstand the acid from melting it down!) If the first one didn't catch her attention, it would vomit a few more at random at the rocks or reeds to make splashy sound. Once her attention was captured, the bug stuck its tongue out and moved in a teasing, childish way, as if it was mocking the human, or it was just really childish.

Day three: On Safari (Lilycove) Mirella didn't have much luck in finding a place with a view. At least not before she happened upon another inhabitant of the marsh. Out of nowhere something poisonous splashed onto the stone before her feet, and Mirella stepped back in alarm. What was going on here? Mirella looked around for the prankster and soon set her eyes on a shelled being that was showing off its tongue at her. Mirella frowned and wrinkled her nose. The pure cheek of the thing annoyed her somehow, or maybe it was its use of poison to attract attention. Sighing she checked with her podedex and noted that it was another bug, a natural prey no less for the Karrablast she had just caught. Maybe it was acting that way, because she had taken away one of its natural enemies. "Doesn't give you the right to act all high and mighty." Mirella mumbled and sent out her own unruly Pokemon. "There's a play thing for you, Caddis. Can you wind it down a bit?"Caddis eyed the bug, deciding how to go about it. Not that it demanded much thought. Caddis did as she always did, and she began dancing her favourite, so she could have a good advantage on that hard looking shell. (Ooc: Caddis uses Dragon Dance times 2. Wordcount: 254)

Fighting unruly with her own unruly Pokemon, the Corphish began dancing her favorites. The Shelmet watched for a few seconds before trying to mock the water Pokemon again, and this time spitting more acid at the Corphish as she was dancing. A lot of splashing sounds could be heard, but most of the acids did not hit the Corphish. For the few spits that did, thankfully, Caddis was't poisoned, maybe annoyed or agitated further by this foolish little bug. Once they're both done doing their things, Caddis took a few seconds to breathe from the dancing, and the Shelmet also took the same time to breathe from spitting so much. This was sort of off to a good start.

Day three: On Safari (Lilycove) Caddis did indeed get annoyed at the acid spitting bug, so when she felt energized enough from her dancing, she exacted her revenge promptly and grabbed after the bug to try and crush the shell. With that shell even Caddis believed it would take a few tries to get lucky and hurt it enough, but all the more reason to get aggressive fast. Mirella watched the battle unfold far more reserved than the earlier play thing Kaleo had. The more she looked at it, the less she was interested in it, though she didn't know why that was. Listening to her feelings, she didn't exactly feel inclined to even catch it, and she let Caddis go all out without a word. Except, and Mirella hesitated in her decision to just let the bug get away, she still only had the right to meet and catch 3 Pokemon here. It was a rare opportunity, she wasn't likely to get again immediately. Maybe she could sell it, and cash in enough money to actually start a real journey faster than she had thought. That was certainly an option, she hadn't considered, while she was trying to plan a trainer journey. Resigned she picked out another empty Pokeball, and then Caddis pulled back for a short breather, Mirella threw the ball. (Ooc: Caddis uses Vice Grip times 2. Mirella uses a Pokeball. Wordcount: 218)

After her dancing, Caddis went forward and try to slice or crush the Shelmet's sturdy armor with her arms. For a little bug, the protective armor was quite strong that Caddis was finding it difficult. The first time, she managed to swipe it, but the Shelmet was getting ready to spit out acid and the Corphish had to dodge away. In the second time, Caddis managed to find a weak part and crushed it a little, but then the bug stuck out its tongue and licked the Corphish, which also seemed to suck a little out of her life, not to mention a little icky. Thankfully, as the crustacean stepped back from the armored bug, her trainer tossed a Pokeball and captured the Pokemon in one go. The ball did shook a little but the bug was too weak to fight its way through. Now, how do you get rid of that sticky bug taste on your face and body?

Day three: On Safari (Lilycove) A ball sucked in the bug, and Caddis blinked her eyes in surprise. She had heard no indication that Mirella wished to catch the annoyance. Mirella had been so quiet, Caddis had momentarily forgotten the woman was even there. She blinked up at the trainer, and clipped her pinchers inquiring, but got no reaction. Instead Mirella bend down and picked up the ball emotionless. Caddis slapped a pincher down on the stone instead, disliking to be ignored, and it made Mirella blink and look at her in surprise. "Sorry, Caddis, for taking your play thing so soon. I think we can sell it. Someone must like the thing." It did explain the sudden capture, but Caddis still felt unsettled. It didn't help when Mirella added: "You look a bit tired too. Better rest up, while we check what else is out here." Caddis scolded in her own language, even if she felt a bit drained from that last attack. There wasn't much she could do however, when Mirella called her back. They had made a deal, and so far Mirella was keeping her part of the bargain by letting her out to play, when things was getting rough. Mirella pondered shortly if she had done the right thing, but decided it was the fault of the bug for annoying her. She could probably find it another trainer that would do it justice and take care of it. In the meantime she needed to figure out how to spend her remaining time in the Marsh. Though the first bug had been fun, and the second bug not so much, Mirella was actually hoping to meet some Pokemon more related to her element of water. The question was how to keep the uninteresting Pokemon away while she scouted out something that would fit with her water types. The idea struck her only a minute later. She had gained one of the better repels some time ago. That might work even if it was a bit risky. Mirella found it in her back, and began reading the instruction on the label while she continued further ahead. She didn't want to stand still in the same place, when she tried it, and the instruction did say, that she should move around to get the best effect.
