How Deep is Your Heart? Deep Inside the Darkness
Zrykani sighed, one hand massaging the back of his neck as he studied his options with a tired disinterest. Well now he had a pokemon at least. It had been an easy task overall, and part of him had almost hoped it wouldn't have been so simply. Almost. Still, that part of him was rash and impulsive, the part that lived for the thrills of being infamous. The mission had run smoothly enough, and that was all that he needed to worry about. Even so... hints of exhaustion were seeping through as the sky started to lighten in preparation of dawn. What was the saying though? The early bird gets the worm? A fitting comparison of basic survival and predation, only the fastest one would get the sustenance he needed, the others would be left to starve and die, their lines ending with their weakness.
Testing the weight of the pokeball in his hand, Zagi closed his eyes, visualizing a rough map of Hoenn. He knew there was a gym in Rustboro where he had arrived, but it would be some time before he was ready to challenge it. So the next closest one would be... Petalburg. By the time he reached it he would probably be close to being able to challenge it. From there he could make a circuit around and back to Rustboro before turning North, by then with what, three badges under his belt? It would take a while, but it would make for a fairly simple and straight-forward route.
A plan of sorts in mind now, Zrykani set off through the dimly lit streets of the city, heading in a southerly direction towards route 104.

Getting up early before the sun rises, Zagi had his eyes on challenging the gyms of Hoenn city. Well, for now, he would need to train up his Pokemon. As he headed south of Rustboro City to explore the route of 104, with every step he could see the sun rising and feel the fire ball's heat warming the area. The cool and dark night were gone again, replaced by the warm and bright day. As he walked through the quiet route in the morning, even the Pokemon weren't awake yet, besides a few Taillow who were up early to grab some tasty berries or Wurmple. Well, almost all of them were sleeping. A Zigzagoon was busy looking for breakfast as it walked around carefully, sniffing every few steps to find some fallen berries or apples. It did ate like three fruits since it has woken up, but it wanted to find one for another heart snack just in case! During its search though, it wasn't paying too much attention and bumped into a human! Oops! So, it sniffed a battle instead!
A (Level 4) ZIgzagoon appeared! It has egg move Mud-Slap. Weather= Sunny OOC: Hi, welcome to PMU! This is your first Pokemon battle and also a mini-tutorial. In a wild Pokemon battle, you're allow to use up to three turns, but you can use less turns if you don't want to risk. Also because you're moving toward route 104, your thread had been moved to Petalburg City.

How Deep is Your Heart? Deep Inside the Darkness
Zrykani watched the skies as he began trekking out of the city, the much beloved and welcomed darkness fading as slowly dawn trickled in, turning the skies an array of warm oranges and pinks and just beginning to shine the suns first rays across the tree tops and spreading along the horizon. It was a steady barely perceptible change, but slightly, ever so slightly, he began to feel the air warm, the heat seeping into everything with a gentle yet unstoppable persistence. It was still early though, and he foresaw very little disturbance along his path, only the first of the Taillow had begun to wake, every now and then the flitting of their forms and their soft chirps alerting his keen senses to their presence. He let them be though so long as they remained merely in the background. He would have plenty of time yet to seek out some training for his newly acquired Pokémon if needed. For now though he enjoyed the quiet of early morning.
Still holding the poke ball in one gloved hand, Zrykani turned his indifferent gaze upon it, cold grey eyes studying it while he continued walking. A seedot. The pokemon had potential just looking at the statistics of it, a strong move set and a Dark/Grass typing when fully evolved made for a nice strong attacker to counter a number of types. But he needed to know how well this pokemon would fare working under him. How much he could trust it and how far he would have to break it in order for it to come to his standards. To meet his expectations of a pokemon under his command. Stepping some ways from the main path, he found himself a more secluded area to work on and settled himself in, finding a sturdy tree to lean back on and hefting the poke ball, tossing the round contraption in the air once while he examined the possible situation and decided how to approach it ahead of time. Give it a chance to show how it reacted to him first, if it proved aggressive he would match its challenge until they came to an understanding of power, if it seemed indifferent or pleased than all the better. If it was timid well then... he narrowed his eyes. He would find another way to deal with it.
His decisions made, Zrykani caught the ball once more and this time held it, directing its release in front of him and opening the device. Red light sprang from the poke ball and arced towards the ground, splashing in a wave of light as a figure formed within its beam. The red faded and left a familiar seedot from his little journey earlier. Once the pokemon was free it seemed to take a moment to glance around it, a calculating look in its eye, cool but assessing. Good, it seemed he had chosen the right one. There was evident distrust when finally the grass type turned its eyes to him, and for several moments they locked gazes in a test of wills, neither blinking or moving so much of a muscle as their attention centered solely on the other. The evident rebellion would make things more difficult, but in all honesty he had expectated and prepared for it, especially given his more... unorthodox method of obtaining the seedot that it was almost bound to be there. It also pleased him to see it though, it showed the pokemon had a mind and will of its own. It had fight.
Before Zrykani or the seedot could force the other to break their gaze though, a new pokemon approached, breaking both of them off at the same time as they simultaneously switched their attention to it. A zigzagoon, clumsy and oblivious as it mindlessly searched for another snack stumbled into them, its fuzzy head bumping into Zrykani's leg. A slight narrowing of his eyes and a twitch of his lips. Hmph. A careless and common pokemon, he had little interest in it save as a chance to see what the seedot was capable of. Cool grey eyes turning back to the seedot, he met its gaze again for a short moment. "Show me what you can do then." The pokemon stared silently at him a moment before turning its gaze back to the zigzagoon.
She hadn't expected the human to leave it up to her. Then again, she hadn't expected there to be a human. By now she was supposed to be back in the wild. Yet here she was, far from where she had remembered being when she let herself fall asleep. It was an unexpected surprise, and indeed, a highly unpleasant one to suddenly be bound and kidnapped inside a poke ball. To have her freedom taken without being given even a chance to fight. It could be worse though, and upon analyzing the situation it proved to be far different than what she had expected of a captive pokemon. Upon being summoned she had expected to be met with another pokemon she was expected to fight, one of her wild kin or another captive pokemon. Instead he had studied her. Examined her. And she had done likewise, each sizing the other up. He made it clear what he offered was not really an option, one way or another he would have her follow his orders. But the cold grey eyes had also promised her a partnership of sorts. An understanding between them. If they could agree with each other that is.
And now that this... zigzagoon had stumbled upon them, he had left it to her. No orders as she had always seen the other humans do. No commands or directions. He didn't force instruction upon her, merely watched. He wanted to see how she took it. Fine then. She would handle it her way then. She had no reason to try and please him, and if he proved not to find it to his taste then too bad. Besides, given enough time she was certain she could find a way to escape again. It had not escaped her attention that he held the poke ball rather than thrown it as most did, but she would find some means of sneaking it from him or growing stronger and simply taking it from his hand. After all, humans couldn't get stronger the same way pokemon could.
Her gaze turning back to the wild pokemon, the seedot considered the stripy pokemon, approaching it cautiously, though she tried to find and maintain a distance where she could easily dodge away or strike at it, depending on how it should react. She was ready for battle, tracing out the patterns for her attacks as she kept her gaze steady on the other opponent, waiting to see its first reaction or move.

Readied to battle and observing the Zigzagoon, the Zigzagoon had no idea what it was going to happen next. As the warm morning sun warmed up the air and shined in the area, The young Seedot could feel herself gradually vitalized by the big star. With only her body and legs at her disposal, for now, the young Seedot began fidgeting and subconsciously swaying her body side to side. The Zigzagoon was startled, as usually trainers would holler a move or run away. Instead, the trainer was just quiet, and at the same time have a Seedot out. What was this supposed to mean? The Normal type was puzzled about the situation, and reluctantly growled loudly at the opponent, making a sound that's annoying to hear, but not high enough pitch to be deafening. Now that it had growled, it felt like the breakfast was digested and the Zigzagoon was ready for a battle!

Round 1: Used Growl 18/18 | Wild Zigzagoon vs Zagi's Tenzu | Zagi's Tenzu Level 5 Chlorophyll Attack -1
Round 1: Faster due to Chlorophyll! No move was called. 20/20 |
OOC: I forget to say that, I would much prefer/enforce the first battle to follow through how I/we (in the future) do the battle system here. But after this encounter, future wild Pokemon encounters can be tamed by RP means. Also, welcome back! It's fine, I thought people have school or work or something.
