Badges & HM
In order to progress or unlock new things in the RP, you would need to acquire badges. And then after acquiring badges, you might need to get the Hidden Machine (HM) To allow access. The first 5 badges you can do them in any order, as you can start in any town west of Mauville City. After the 5th badge is earned, the last 3 badges must be earned in order: Feather Badge, Mind Badge, and Rain Badge.

Gym Badges & Powers:
Getting gym badges is a big deal, whether it's unlocking new area to unlock more Pokemon, or enabling you to use HM to access more Pokemon or more area, or even unlocking new items in stores. Take a look at this table to find out! Since you can earn the first 5 badges in any order you want, this table only shows by badge number and what addition features they unlock.
HM-Required Accessible Area Throughout Hoenn:
RP Note: As long as you have at least one Pokemon taught with the following HM, you don't need to take the Pokemon out of the box to access the area.
For example, you can have a Vigoroth with Rock Smash sitting in the box to access HM-required Rock Smash area without taking it out of the box literally. You may RP out having the Vigoroth out doing the smashing, though.
