It was that time of year again, a thing that Hulda and her friends and family had celebrated often back in the village. Halloween during autumn was quite a big deal in that ninja community. Hey you were disguised and tried to fear others, how was that not ninja like? The candy part was a lesser deal in that situation, it was more about the trickery and dressing up. Dagrun wanted to know how it was here in the Hoenn Region and she brought along her kind and easy to handle pokemon, as she wanted to explore and talk with people, and that would be difficult with a pokemon that could set everything ablaze without warning for no obvious reason.
Since she was already in Rustboro, that was where she looked around to see what was going on.

As the city got into the mood of autumn, there were orange and black colored themed decorations everywhere, as well as decors of Pokemon like Spinarak, ghost type Pokemons, feline Pokemon. Stores were popping up costumes and pumpkin flavored seasonal food to offer their customers. As the season also cooled, there were seemingly more flying Pokemon perching or flying about the city.
Up in the sky, a flock of Murkrow were flying when they suddenly swooped down and approached Dagrun! Thankfully, they weren't flying directly at her, but at a trash can nearby. They seemed to have spotted something shiny in the trash can nearby and were fighting who could get it. After some hopping, jumping up and down obstacles, mean squawking, wings blocking, the shiny object was moving fast in the air and tossed between the number of Murkrows.
After a few minutes, the shiny thing went flying at Dagrun when none of the Murkrow were paying attention in the fierce battle. They gradually stopped fighting and noticed the shiny object was gone! They looked around, squawking for a bit, and flew toward a dark alley where they thought they saw another shiny thing.
When Dagrun would look carefully in her loose clothing or surroundings, she would notice that the shiny object was in fact, a shiny ring that was flung at her. A gold ring with ruby crafted on it. Though it looked quite worn out, as if it was many years old.

It was a nice day at the city, though Dagrun found it a bit too much with all this celebration. In her eyes it was mostly the companies who tried to earn a lot of money by selling pumpkin themed stuff and nice chills. Her pokemon were curious about it in their own way. Baldrian clearly liked all the colors and often stopped when something special caught his eye, while Natsumi looked like she was walking around in a daze due to all the delicious smells. Warin and Takara were looking curiously at their surroundings, not quite understanding what was going on, but thinking it was all very pretty.
Suddenly a flock of murkrows dived at them and Dagrun had a flash back of a swellow doing the same and Keith the greninja, her former partner, stepping in front of her to protect her. Baldrian hid behind her, while Warin pushed Takara there too and stood between the murkrows and the trapinch. Natsumi didn't notice at first and just looked uninterested as they fly past. Dagrun felt a pang of sorrow but quickly pushed it away.
Dagrun reacted fast as the object came flying at her, and blocked it with her arm, and let the sleeve catch it, while pretending not to see it. She waited until the murkrows where gone before she took a look at what it was. An old ring. She had little use for it but it looked valuable. Perhaps someone was missing it and it had ended in the trash by a mistake, if not she could always sell it. She put it in her pocket and strolled over to take a glance at the trash to see if she could get any clues, before looking over the area she was in, also to see if she could get any information, or something seemed out of the ordinary.

Inspecting the strange, ruby-adorned golden ring, the ninja was wondering if someone had lost it. However, while holding it, she could feel an ominous feeling pulsing from the ring, making one feel dreadful or a sudden sense of something bad might happen. As the feeling was lingering with Dagrun, a young girl saw what was going on, and casually walked by to her. She looked directly at the trainer in the eye, and gave an innocent smile while she spoke. "Hehe, I saw that! Don't worry, you can keep it and it's not mine anyways, but it does look like the ring an old witch used to wear from legends long time ago. It's said that those humans who touched it would be cursed with bad luck. I guess she didn't really like humans and liked Pokemon more, but it's just a legend. Well, I could be wrong though. Anyways, have a Happy Halloween!"
She then hummed a cheerful tune and disappeared to somewhere else. Well, it's not very common for a stranger to just walk up to you like that and tell you creepy things.

Dagrun frowned as she felt something from the ring, or were it just her imagination now it was that time of the year? She froze momentarily as the girl looked and smiled at her. She quickly smiled back when the girl laughed and told she had seen everything, though she didn't sounded like she was going to accuse her of stealing. Instead she told a creepy story, though it didn't really scare Dagrun, as she faced plenty of dangerous things on her missions. It sounded a bit too far out for her to take serious. "How do you know?" Dagrun asked and noticed that the girl had disappeared and narrowed her eyes suspiciously. "Where did she go?" She asked no-one in particular. Baldrian looked a bit ashamed but took a step away from Dagrun, nervous about the story and the ring that had been put in the trainer's pocket. Natsumi rummaged around at the trash can in the search for something edible. Warin and Takara were more interested in all the sights around them.
Dagrun casually walked over to where the girl had stood and looked for any signs of her, and if she found some tracks she would follow them. If not she would continue her stroll around to enjoy the halloween, althought she would keep an eye out for the girl to ask her questions if she saw her.

Even though Dagrun was trying to track down the girl, she seemed to leave no traces behind. Not footprints, no scents, or anything rational amount of traces. How could someone moved so fast? Was it a trick on her too or no? Or maybe she was hiding somewhere too good to be found.
Just when she had only walked a couple stores down the street, a Purrloin surprised her by leaping out of the bush from hiding, and tried to ran around Dagrun to stop her from moving. Meowing loudly and a bit viciously, the feline jumped on Dagrun's hand and was acting all cute to be petted. Though one shouldn't be fooled by such a cutesy purple mammal. The cat was just acting all cute as a ploy to steal the ring from Dagrun when she was distracted. Though with the information about that creepy legend, it may or may not be a good thing to stop holding onto such a random ring trash that flew into her direction anyways. When the cat was done, it slithered away into an alley with her new treasure.
OOC: i hope im not godmodding on whether or not you're keeping the ring but it's kinda quest item

It was weird, Hulda usually could track down her targets and only had trouble when they too were ninjas and skilled in hiding their tracks. This girl surely couldn't have been this good, and why should she hide her tracks? Dagrun didn't believe in ghost, other than in the pokemon kind, but she had to confess to herself, that she found it rather creepy and unnerving. Just in the spirit of Halloween. "Come on Natsumi, I'm sure I can find you something more interesting than what you can find there," Dagrun called to the zigzagoon, who happily left her searching to join them again.
They didn't get far before a purrloin inderseptet them and forced her to stop. Dagrun narrowed her eyes as the feline first acted threateningly and leaped at her hand, though it apparently was only to get petted. Dagrun cooed over it and crouched to pet it, as long as she was allowed and watched it ran into an alley, and took a few steps before stopping again. She narrowed her eyes at the alley and petted her pocked, and checked it when she couldn't feel the ring there anymore. She sighed sadly. "I had hoped it hadn't lived up to its stereotype, but it seems like we need to keep our belongings closely watched," She said and made sure she still had her money and such. "Come, we better teach it a lesson! It could have taken something much worse than the ring, and perhaps someone is still looking for it," Dagrun said and led her pokemon to the alley. That was her official reason for her to take it in the first place, to find out if someone was missing it. Personally it had just peeked her interest and she wanted to figure out what it was with that ring, and she was proud and didn't want to let a thief go without revenging it. She still had her proud and she was the one who stole from others, not the other way around.
(ooc: not at all, I did wrote she put it in her pocket)

Trying to track down the Purrloin, Dagrun found herself in an alley, where she might have thought she saw the feline Pokemon slipped by. Where did it go? Was it a hallucination just now or she caught the last half a second of it in the alley. The road was also a bit too dark to be sure, but then there were optical illusions in broad daylight so maybe the lighting wasn't an issue. A different flock of Murkrows were startled by Dagrun suddenly walking inside the alley. They seemed to be everywhere in this season, don't they? They squawked loudly and flew upward to escape. However, as they were flying up, they crashed into the group of Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff that were floating on the high altitude wind. The two groups of Pokemon were caught in a battle with each other. The grass type Pokemon used cotton spore, clouding the atmosphere and slowed down the Murkrow enough to hop and float away from the scene. However, there was just quite a lot of cotton being released. It seemed that no matter how the ninja tried to dodge, she still got some on her hair and her clothes! OOC: ok i wasnt sure about finding more about the ring was in this year's quest. maybe next halloween ok this was the prank part 1 in case you're not sure

Dagrun was getting a bit irritating, things didn't add up here and she didn't like when someone was pulling her nose. She jumped a bit as the murkrows took to the sky and all her pokemon hid behind her with Warin ready to guard Takara, and Baldrian made sure to stay behind him as well. Dagrun didn't look back at them as she could feel them pressure up against her legs, but she wasn't pleased with their reactions and wondered if Natsumi would react better and actually be helpful. She raised her arms to protect her head as the two groups began to fight, and she groaned as the cotton was sent flying. "You gotta be kidding me!" She complained and didn't try to avoid it as she knew it would be fruitless. It drifted back and forth and by trying to dodge some, she would just jump into others. She kept her mouth shut to keep avoid getting some there though. Takara on the other hand tried to catch a few from where she was standing, curious about the white fluffy stuff that was floating around.
As the grass types were gone, Dagrun kept an eye on the murkrows to see what they were going to do, and then she would continue to try track down the purrloin.

The Murkrow stood on the edge of the building for a bit, plucking off those random cottons off their majestic, dark, twisted feathers. When the group felt ready, they took off the to sky again, squawking like another day flying together. Then, nothing happened again in the alley, as both the group of passerby Cottonee, SKiploom, and Jumpluff, and the Murkrows were gone. The Murkrows didn't pay much attention to Dagrun, as this was a different flock. Soon, the streets were mostly quiet again, saved for some moving vehicles and other normal street sounds. Murkrow's squawking could also be heard in the sky, but they were just flapping really slowly, just casually flying in the sky until they find something new.

Dagrun spent some time plucking off the cotton while she glared annoyed at the birds that were doing the same thing on the rooftop. It was hard to do the same to the ones who was responsible for this, as the flying grasstypes were long gone. They had hid their escape with the cotton almost as well as a ninja would.
Dagrun waited until the murkrows were gone again, others had behaved weirdly and who knew what this flock would do if she did something they didn't like. When they had left Dagrun looked around in the quietness, then she shrugged. "Come on, let's find that thief again," Dagrun said to her pokemon and walked towards where she guessed the purrloin could have run off to. She didn't have much to go after, but she wanted to at least try until it was clear it was fruitless, which probably would show when she reached the end. It all depended on if she found some clues of the black cat's whereabouts or not. If not she would have to return to the main street and give up.
The pokemon followed her closely. Warin stayed on the ground now, to be closer to Takara so it would be easier to protect her, if something should pop out. The trapinch had managed to catch one of the floating cotton and was proudly carrying it in her mouth as they moved through the alley.

Searching through one of the alleys in the city, Dagrun found herself back to the main street again. Perhaps some of the alleys just connect each other, in a poorly designed city planning way. There were no sign of Purrloin in the dark alleys. When she was in the main street, she seemed to came to a dead end for vehicles, as a small park covered from one end of the street to the other. Though humans can take this as a scenic shortcut, but if you drive, you'll have to go around.
"Wait, Stop!" A loud, feminine voice cried, and in front of Dagrun was a young woman chasing after her Azurill and Budew, who seemed to be moving faster than she can catch up. The two Pokemon were small little Pokemon, running about enjoying themselves in the park, with some of the wild Pokemon living in the park. As the game play they have got a little too tense, a Pokemon seemed to have hit and turned on the sprinkler, spraying water at Dagrun and made her wet!
"Oh no! Oh... I'm sorry!" The woman quickly went to the sprinkler and turned it off, as some of the Pokemon were stunned by the sudden burst of water. They also looked disappointed that she turned it off. Upon cloer look, the young lady seemed to be a volunteer with a name tag stuck on her chest with her name and organization. She grabbed one of her towel from her bag and handed to Dagrun to dry off, while apologizing once again and looking embarrassed.

Much to Dagrun's dismay the purrloin got away with it's prize. She was sure that if she had had the other team with her, she could have easily got her hands on it, but she didn't and she had to accept her defeat begrudgingly. That the ninja had been outsmarted and tricked, which would not look good on her record even if it was a minor thing.
As she reached a park a voice called out and at first Dagrun thought it was directed at her, until she noticed the two small pokemon the other woman chased. She watched a moment and too late noticed what happened. "gah!" She exclaimed and hurried to get out of the spray of water, she grumpled annoyed as she wiped water of her face and tried to shake the worst of the water off her clothes before it got sucked in. This was not her day! Takara was on the run too, and since she didn't know what to do, she stayed close to Dagrun and complained loudly when a few drops of water were shaken off the woman and hit her.
Dagrun mumbled something inaudible as response to the woman's apology. She was still irritated though she accepted the towel and used it to dry off. She spent a few moments to calm down as it had been an accident and there were no reason to scold the woman. She glanced at the nametag to see what organisation she volunteered for. "It's alright, it's just water and I'll survive. No worries," Dagrun said with a faint smile to the other woman and then crouched to dry off Takara as well. "So what are you volunteering for?" She asked conversationally, while Baldrian and Warin were scolding the two smaller pokemon for their recklessness.

"I'm volunteering to make the park beautiful. A lot of people use the park to play, exercise, date, hang out. Sometimes the entire park is reserved for like wedding service. I think there might be some holiday events that they're doing in the park too," She replied, still embarrassed about the water splash. "I was going to volunteer for cleaning the park after Halloween. You know, with all the candy wrappers around, but my sister is visiting so I'm going to have fun with my niece and nephews."
The woman's Pokemon, on the other hand, were sulking about being scolded by Baldrian and Warin. They were just having fun, and didn't imagine it would cause such a trouble! The other wild Pokemon they were playing with, either hid away or went to play with other volunteers' Pokemon. They felt bad about this situation, and excused themselves to apologize to Dagrun, in their Pokemon talk.

Dagrun looked around the park. "Looks like you are doing a great job," she praised the woman, mostly so she seemed kind and make a reputation of being such. "You need to take care of yourself once in a while as well, don't feel bad for not helping out all the time," Dagrun said with a smile as she handed the towel back to the woman. She stood there a bit in silence, not knowing what else to say or do. "Well, I will not uphold you any longer. Thanks for the towel, and I hope your friends behave from now on," Dagrun bid her farewell and stopped Warin's continued scolding. Baldrian had stopped quite some time ago. Then she went to investigate the garden and to see if she could find any clues off the thief, though she didn't really believe any longer, that she would succeed.
