Name: Niles Versio
Age: 16
Trainer Class: Trainer
Gender: Male
Birthplace: Lilycove City
Residence: Slateport City
Story Affiliation: Neutral-Hero
Rival Gender and Starter: Female and Torchic
Appearance: Niles stands at 5'9 with a slim, fit figure of about 150 lbs. His spiky, bright blonde hair is easy to spot as his shimmering, light blue eyes seem to leave nothing undetected. His icy pupils are large, contrasting with the smaller features of his face. The eyes draw all of the appeal as his thin lips and average-sized nose are not out of the ordinary. Niles's face is clear and clean with not a blemish to be spotted. A toothy smile is rare as Niles prefers to simply grin with his lips. However, Niles's teeth are quite straight and blindingly white. His light complexion of skin compliments his hair and his eyes.
Niles is all about his fashion. He loves a good slim blazer and never leaves home without his high-top converse. He appears sophisticated, but cool with tie loosened and shirt not buttoned all the way. Niles's vision is crisp, yet that does not prevent Niles from wearing glasses for the sake of fashion. Expensive and bold are what define this young man's taste in style. No matter the season, Niles has something to adapt to the weather change in his closet, which is probably double the amount of something found at a department store.
Personality: When it comes to speaking with the person beside him, Niles is not afraid to commit to a bit of small-talk. It is simply touching upon the big issues of either Niles past or flaws that begins his reserved manner. Niles is not the trusting type, at least when it comes to humans. Niles finds Pokemon to be the only creatures in the world who will truly give the care he seeks. Niles attempts to keep his emotions hidden away from sight by shielding himself with a "calm and collected persona." He wants to engage with others, but fears letting them get too close in case they may hurt him in any way.
What keeps Niles going is hope. When all seems lost, Niles does not crumble. He holds steady with hope in his heart as he acts in order to maintain his path toward whatever his goal may be. Quitting is something Niles finds disgraceful because if there is hope for at least something slightly better then something better will come from it.
Niles flaws come from his insecurity. He fears being trapped within his father's shadow and money, thus Niles struggles to make his own name. He holds onto hope because, without it, Niles feels that there is nothing to shoot for or live for. Niles has remorse for the poor because of the the privileged life he has led, yet he is unsure of what to do to remedy the situation. Therefore, Niles always feels lost in economic issues because he desires to be successful and have money, yet stray away from inheritance from his father.
History: Lilycove City - the place where Niles grew his roots and ultimately became the young man he is today. Niles Versio is the son of extremely successful businessman Michalis Versio and nurse Amelia Versio. Michalis is an infamous poke ball entrepreneur who committed to whatever was necessary to sell the product. Amelia is a nurse who is quite adept at her job as well as attempting to create new medicines.
Niles grew up without seeing or hearing from his father much. Michalis was a busy man that traveled throughout Hoenn to sell his products. His mother was strong and capable as she managed to hold a nursing job while maintaining time to be with her son. Niles loved both of his parents and hoped that someday his whole family could be reunited.
With his mother and father away from home most of the time, Niles was left with his uncle at their estate in Lilycove City. Niles's uncle, Thomas Versio, was a man without much money. Niles was five when Thomas first began to watch over Niles. The young boy learned much from Thomas, such as not to take things for granite or to never give up believing that Niles father, Thomas's brother, would return. Thomas worked at the museum and regularly took Niles there, quickly making it the young boy's favorite place to visit. A year passed and Niles began to call Thomas, "Papa." When that began to happen, Niles world changed.
Amelia had fallen for Thomas and the two seemed just as happy as Niles was for having a complete family. His mother worked smaller shifts, while Thomas was promoted within the museum. It was Niles seventh birthday when Michalis suddenly appeared. Niles was rushed to his room, but that did not prevent him from hearing the shouts. Niles was not sure what was said, but when he returned downstairs, Amelia sat alone crying as Michalis was over by the bar area. Thomas was gone.
Niles was about to begin school as a seven-year-old, but his father sent him to boarding school in Mossdeep City. He never saw Thomas and soon after he left his memories of what his mother looked like became less apparent. Niles spent the next eight years at this school in Mossdeep City. It was reserved for only those that were waist-deep in Poke dollars. Niles struggled to adjust as he simply wanted to return home, thus his first year was spent alone and hoping for something good to happen to him. In year two, Niles found friends in two new students who came from similar backgrounds as Niles. They became close and were successful in their education. Niles became more open, yet attempted to always keep the topic away from his father. The dull look Niles had grown shifted into a faint smile. At this boarding school, Niles learned of Pokemon battles and the basics of how to survive in the "real world," as the professors called it. Niles was bright, yet he had to work hard to get the respect of his peers and professors.
When Niles turned 15 he was granted the ability to visit home. Niles attempted to stay at the school, but they forced him to return to Lilycove City. Upon arrival, Niles found nobody in his home. Within the hour, two men in blue bandanas and black and white stripes appeared to pick up some packages. Niles refused to let them in his home, yet they pushed past him anyways. Niles tried to find a phone to call the cops, but his father entered the estate as well. He wore an emblem on his suit jacket lapel - it stood for Team Aqua. Niles had learned of the thugs who were becoming more known for their actions, yet Niles was unsure whether to be surprised or understanding that his father was a part of this group. His father explained how he sent Niles to that school to get better in battling, so that Niles may become useful for once. The poke balls his father have been selling have been given to Team Aqua for years. Niles refused to become some puppet for his father. The young man only endured pain whenever he was in Michalis's presence, thus Niles packed his belongings of his favorite clothes, memorabilia, and traveling necessities into a large suitcase and backpack. He left his home and did not look back.
Niles found himself staring out a window on the S.S. Tidal as he had reached Slateport City. People flooded off the ship as Niles rolled his suitcase behind him. He stopped to take in the fresh breeze and new sights. Niles felt a slight push on his left shoulder as a man tried to get past him. Niles grinned and continued walking forward.
