Grass crunched beneath the girl's feet as she excitedly exited the town of Slateport, wanting to get her journey officially underway. While battling and earning badges in order to gain access to fight the Elite Four didn't seem to be her strong suit, she figured she was ready enough now that she had learned more about Pokemon on her adventures. Not to mention, water types were supposed to have a type advantage over more than a few Gym Leaders in Hoenn, which meant she might have more of a fighting chance. As the city life slipped away and more wildlife started to sprout up around her, Lillian began to slow. Marsh gave a confused sound from where he still hung at her arms, making Lillian jump. He was so tiny, she almost forgot he was still there! "Oh, I'm sorry!" Lillian said with a giggle. "You probably wanna walk, don't you?" Before the small Pokemon even had time to answer, the teenager bent over and set him on the ground with a pat on his head. "There you go!" she said before straightened to take a look around. Route 110 was just as full of trees and tall grass as she remembered it to be. She had been out this way a few times before, especially when she and her family ever traveled to Mauville. This time seemed different, however. Maybe it was because she was actually a Trainer traveling, and not just a child traveling with her parents or someone who was passing through with her already caught Pokemon. She turned her attention back to Marsh, who was now a few feet away and sniffing around at some grass. "You're probably just as happy to running around as I am, aren't you?" asked the teenager as she began to follow the given path. Marsh jumped and turned, before realizing his Trainer was leaving him and hurriedly followed. "Mudkip!" was his egear reply. Lillian giggle. "I thought so! My parents are usually good when it comes to Pokemon," she informed. "Though I wished they would have told me beforehand they had an egg. I think it might have been more fun if I could hatch it -- well, erm, you, I guess But we'll still get along great!""Kip? Mudkip!" Again, Lillian giggled. The scenery had all but completely turned into pure Pokemon territory, save for the path. Their first goal would be to catch a few Pokemon before heading to Mauville, and then Verdenturf where they could pass through the tunnel to Rustburo, and from there, train until Lillian thought they could handle the first Gym. Man, this was going to be one amazing trip!

Walking along the path of route 101, it didn't take long for a wild Pokemon to finally appear. A jolly little Minun was up in a tree, climbing by itself trying to knock an apple or two or more down by jumping on a tree branch. Although the Pokemon was small, the force of gravity was strong. Jumping and shaking, the leaves rattled and shook when finally, two apples fell down on the ground with a thud! Oh, and also the Minun too! The electric type was in pain, but being a tree climber, it was used to falling off trees so this was not too painful. Looking at the apples happily, it was glad to have some apples for food! The Minun also sniffed something more than apples though, and it turned around to see a human and a Mudkip. A Mudkip, could it be? A trainer? It gasped and froze, wasn't sure if the opponent would snatch its apples away!
A wild (Level 2) Minun appeared! Nothing special about this Minun. OOC: by the way, don't forget to post in the modding queue when you're done next time. ^^ It's how I know which order to mod posts. Also hi and welcome to PMU! This is your first Pokemon battle and a mini-tutorial to the forum! You are allowed to use up to three turns for wild Pokemon battles, but you may use less if you find 3 turns risky. and by the way, you could totally have your first gym in other places of Hoenn west of Mauville, but it's up to you

when it's time to live and let die and you can't get another try
At first, Lillian wasn't too sure they'd find much of anything along this route -- the biking path that welcomed all type of travelers looking for an easy way to get from Mauville to Slateport probably kept the jist of the Pokemon away due to human traffic -- until she heard something falling.
"Mudkip?" Marsh asked, obviously hearing the sound as well.
They stopped, before the water type quickly went to follow the sound, his trainer following quickly behind. The scource wasn't too hard to find; a small Minun stood with two apples on the ground, obviously haven knocked them down somehow. It seemed apprehensive of the trainer and her Pokemon. She really couldn't blame it; even she did, a little, due to the fact that the Minun had a type advantage over Marsh.
The little water type didn't seem to be worried about this fact, however; tilting his head, Marsh took a few steps forward curiously towards the Minun.

Even though the fall didn't hurt and the human duo didn't take his apples yet, the Minun wasn't ready to let his guard down yet. Who knew what the opponent might be thinking? As the water type approached closer, the electric type wild Pokemon interpreted it in a different way instead. Wanting to defend itself with all its might, its cheek charged up electricity as it flickered with sparks. The mouse Pokemon squeaked as electricity flickered, but they also were gone because the young Pokemon haven't mastered its innate ability yet. However, the Pokemon remained standing, with its determined facial expression that it won't back down without a fight. Maybe it was just embarrassed to have fallen in front of a human, or maybe after falling and see the human, it kind of wanted a fight now. Whatever the case it was, it wanted a fight.
The (level 2) Minun wants to fight! OOC: The link to the modding queue is here, you can also find it at the bottom of this thread underneath the chat box. When you finish your post, please post a reply in there so I know which order to mod. Also sorry, it's the tutorial, you have to fight. Once the tutorial is over, you could try other interactive options with wild Pokemon.

when it's time to live and let die and you can't get another try Marsh and Lillian both jumped at the sparks released by the Minun; Marsh quick to get into a defensive position. This Minun obviously wanted a battle, or at least didn't feel safe enough to let them go without one.
"Oh?" Lillian finally asked after a moment, seeming to realize after a moment that a battle was likely to ensue.
She seemed excited after a moment, at the prospect of their first battle in Hoenn. Granted, the Minun still had a type advantage; but by the look of things, the Minun didn't even have much electric power to it yet. That didn't stop her from feeling a bit bad, as the Minun was tiny and cute. Perhaps she could end up catching it!
"Oh! Ok! Hey, Marsh, use Tackle!"
"Kip? Mudkip!" Marsh replied with a nod, before bounding forward with a full body tackle at the Minun.

Happy that the human accepted its challenge to a battle, the energetic Minun jumped up and down squeaking with some loose sparks running off its cheeks. Then, it calmed down and watched carefully as the Mudkip went forward. Running toward the Minun, Marsh dashed forward without hesitation, and slammed as hard as he could. The Minun could feel the impact toward it, and was pushed to the ground. Wow, the trainer's Pokemon was tougher than it thought! Two seconds later, it got back up and located Marsh, who had already ran away after the Tackle from receiving some point blank attack. The Minun squeaked loudly and differently this time, with a loud growl that was basically noisy. The growl weakened Marsh's physical attack just a little, but what was this little mouse going to do to him huh?

Marsh jumped back in surprise at the sudden growl, obviously affected by it. Not deterred by the move, however, and seeing no other attack from the wild Pokemon, Marsh charged in with another tackle.

This wasn't an intense battle, but nevertheless a good learning opportunity for the new trainer. The Mudkip dashed forward and gave the Minun an energetic tackle. The opponent electric type quickly fell to the ground, unconscious from the strength of the little mudkip. The mouse laid on the ground, unconscious and unable to move for a bit; if Lillian would like to get an electric mouse to her team, this would be a great time. Marsh yapped happily and turned to look at his trainer. Wow, that was his first victory, and it felt great!

Lillian made a rather happy -- if not slightly obnoxious -- sound as the Minun fell to the ground, unconscious. Marsh, responded the same, happily trotting back to his trainer after their first win.
"Wow, that was really good!" Lillian said as she bent over and patted the small Pokemon on his head (well, side, considering his fin; but you get the point). "I feel bad, though. Maybe we should take the little guy with us?"
Marsh looked back at the other Pokemon, head tilted, before turning back to Lily with a "Kip!"
Lillian nodded, and grabbed a Pokeball out of her bag before giving it a toss. The orb moves three or four times before stopping with a flash at the center. Lillian proceeded to pick it up with even more giddiness than she had with winning the battle, and with a call to Marsh, headed onward; mostly in the hopes in healing both of her Pokemon.

Continuing her path northward, Lillian made a bit of progress in her journey toward the next town. She could hear the echoes of cyclist up above in the Cycling Road, and she could also smell the scent of sea salt wafting in the air as the small stretch of road was also next to the sea. A division between human and Pokemon, land and sea, but still co-exist happily. A lone Voltorb was having fun by itself with the slightly irregular path this route provide. It had found a section of the path where it was inclined in both directions, like a grassy skate park. It was rolling up on one side, down in the middle, and then up on the other side. Each time it went up it could see the world higher from the ground. Should Lillian intervene, Voltorb would be glad to shed some of those excess excitement.

It wasn't long before they came upon another Pokemon. Lillian probably wouldn't have noticed it, honestly, had Marsh not stopped to watch with his head cocker to one side.
"Hm? Well that's odd," Lillian said as she watched the Pokeball shaped Pokemon as it rolled around in the grass.
Marsh didn't seem to happy with just watching it, however. The water type proceeded to jump in the electric type's path and spit a water gun at the Pokemon.

Ruining the fun of the rolling Pokemon, Marsh jumped in when it was close, and fired a shot of Water Gun. The electric type felt a sudden slippery feeling and rolled to a stop, by changing its momentum from within, as well as using the friction of the grass to stop it. It looked at the water Pokemon, well... It certainly was quite brave to attack an electric type. It shot an annoyed look at Marsh, and then began charging power from its body..... That was it.

Marsh tilted his he'd to one side. This Pokeball looking Pokemon was really odd. The water type wasn't sure he'd ever seen one like this before - especially one that sparked and liked to roll around (considering a normal Pokeball that sparked was usually a bad thing.
Lillian considering fleeing, but then again, she would have also wanted to train her Pokémon for their first gym battle. Not like Roxanne would be too challenging, considering she raised rock and ground type Pokémon and Marsh had a type advantage, but it wouldn't hurt to find other Pokemon to train with, after she won this battle.
Marsh was also at a type disadvantage, however. Lillian hoped that this Voltorb didn't know any strong electric type moves yet. She would definitely be glad when her starter evolved and would become resistant to electric type attacks. In the meantime, training Marsh until he could get to that point also wouldn't hurt. Probably.
“Marsh, use water gun again! The use tackle!”
“Mudkip!”
Another jet of water erupted from the small Pokemon's mouth, before he lunged at the electric type.

With the goal of challenging her first gym in mind, Lillian decided that strengthening her Pokemon won't be a bad thing, and also that she could find a new Pokemon to join her team. her Mudkip might be young, but giving the water type a couple more training wouldn't hurt the small Pokemon. After hearing his order, Marsh went forward with a Water Gun again, making the Voltorb wet again, as the previous water gun's water droplets seemed to have either rolled off that slick sphere or evaporated. Then, the Voltorb this time returned with a tackle, rolling forward and slammed onto the little water Pokemon. Marsh was merely pushed backward a little, but the damage was more like a scratch. Then, he ran forward and tackled the sphere back, knocking it into unconsciousness as the sphere rolled back and forth a bit before the friction of the grass and mud stopped it.
