Seeing the fire type Numel, the Wingull could feel the heat coming from her body that would be way higher than other Pokemon and came to a conclusion that she was a fire type. Thinking this would be an easy win, the flying type acted first and cawed strangely that made the numel confused. Thankfully, the human arrived in time and the fire type had enough mental strength to just back away instead of walking even closer. Natsumi, the trained Zigzagoon, came to the rescue and caught the two Pokemon's attention with her growl. The other Zizagoon greeted frantically with its own Growl. Baldrian stepped in after the Numel was recalled, and caught the Wingull's attention just enough to separate it from the Zigzagoon for a couple decent seconds. Then, he waved his arms and yellow powders of dread came out. The unlucky bird breathed in and was paralyzed from head to toe. On the other hand, Natsumi went forward first to try to climb the other Zigzagoon like a rock, but both of them ended up looking like two Zigzagoon playing with each other for misjudged eyes, but the wild one definitely screamed in pain from the rough climbing. Flailing in pain, the wild normal type flicked its tail back and forth on Natsumi until she moved away, and then went toward Baldrian and whipped him a few times with its tail while the grass type was recharging from launching the Stun Spore.

It was a huge relief to Baldrian that his paralyzing powders worked so quickly. Even though this wasn't the scariest bird, he knew it was part water and that he had a chance to do a thing or two against it he had managed to surprise a careless wingull before, once or twice, but it was still a bird and those were dangerous. Natsumi on the other hand wasn't very pleased. The battle went fine for now but she couldn't get her mind of the food Dagrun had offered Fiera (fruitlessly), to try get the numel to cooperate. Natsumi wanted that too!
Dagrun had been busy with her pokedex and was now ready to pretend to use it to call out moves. It should be possible for her pokemon to beat those two wild pokemon enough for her to capture the wingull, especially with the help of the potions she had brougt with her. "Baldrian, can you use Growth? I think that will make be good, and Natsumi can you do that thing you did before again?" Dagrun asked and glanced down at the pokedex before returning her attention to the battle. Baldrian's Quickly did as asked though he would have preferred to try paralyse the zigzagoon as well, but he trustet his fellow pokemon to take care of it. To his horror, Natsumi sat right down and looked like she was anything but in the middle of a battle. She even waved her tail a little bit, but didn't seem to have any attention on their opponents.
"Natsumi? What are you doing?" Dagrun asked, while Baldrian said the same in his own language. Natsumi turned her head to look hopefully at Dagrun and then pointed with a paw at her open mouth, before licking her lips. "You can't be serious?! You want to eat in the middle of a battle?" Baldrian exclaimed and looked fearfully at the wingull. "You can't really call this a battle, not against those two. I can't even feel their attacks," Natsumi said casually while Baldrian gaped at her. He had never heard her talk like that before. It wasn't a thing she usually did, but she tried to taunt their opponents to attack her instead of Baldrian, that was the least she could do when deciding she wanted food to battle, here in the middle of everything.
A annoyed grimace was briefly visible on Dagrun's face before it changed to a more confused and worried one. "I'm not sure it is the right time to eat right now, are you sure you can't wait?" Dagrun asked and Natsumi looked expectantly at her. It was good the human had understood her wishes. Dagrun on the other hand was annoyed that more of her pokemon suddenly decided to be troublesome, if this continued she would have to make some team changes, this couldn't continue. "Won't you please attack? I'll give you a lot of food afterwards, I promise!" Dagrun said desperately and Natsumi sprung into action and once more tried to climb the other zigzagoon. "Quick Baldrian! Use absorb!" Dagrun urged and Baldrian did as asked, and decided to target the wingull now it was the biggest threat and Natsumi took care of the other.

The Wingull squawked and fought through the paralysis that was slowing it down. Then, it summoned a barrier around itself and the Zigzagoon, but it was a really specific kind of barrier, that no one was sure what it was supposed to protect against. Baldrian did as he was told, and grew itself a little bit bigger, but just a little. Next, Natsumi wagged her tail tauntingly, hoping for her opponents to target her instead. However, the wild Zigzagoon returned by growling again, telling her that her wagging tail "she wasn't cute" and "it had seen cuter Zigzagoon than her". After that, the four Pokemon split up to attack one another. The grass type drew some green energy and absorbed some life from the Wingull, sapping its health when it wasn't expecting that.. However, the bird retaliated by blasting a shot of water at it, but the grass type found that attack more like a scratch, maybe Natsumi was right. On the other hand, Natsumi went to "climb" the other Zigzagoon again, making it cried in pain. When Natsumi finished her climb, the wild Zigzagoon got into a position and began kicking sand from its feet, flickering them in the air. Natsumi managed to dodge the sand, but Baldrian seemed to have gotten some sand in his eyes, making his aim lowered.

Baldrian was not happy facing of the bird at all and he did try keep behind Natsumi, though it was difficult wiht how close she continued to move ot the other zigzagoon. He was a bit annoyed with her as well, taking such a risk midbattle just to get a snack! She may be listening too much to her stomach, but the roselia was well aware who it was who would pay, if it went wrong. He flinched a bit as wingull threw up some barrier, though it didn't stop his attempt to absorb energy from it, when he attempted to do it. He attempted to dodge when the bird retaliated with an attack of its own, which though, to his surprise and relief, just ended up being a bit of water. He could handle that just fine and he still felt great.
Natsumi was a lot motivated to do her best now Dagrun had promised her something to eat afterwards. She didn't care about what the other zigzagoon growled at her, she wasn't trying to find a mate, just an easy meal and she had only wagged her tail to try keep the attention on her instead of Baldrian. She was aware of the risk she put her partner in but food was more important in her eyes, and she let the final decission and responsibility be up to Dagrun. She just did as she was told, and if they lost it couldn't entirely be her fault only. Natsumi didn't want to lose though, since that would mean she wouldn't get any snacks.
Dagrun narrowed her eyes at the flying water type, didn't it look like it was getting a bit more tired? With the paralyses on top of that it probably wouldn't be too difficult to catch now, and she thought it would be a shame if Baldrian should faint because of it. He was so kind to help her. "Natsumi, Baldrian, go after the other zigzagoon!" Dagrun called and moved closer to the wingull, she hoped they would get the other normal type down, and as soon as it was, she would throw a pokeball at the wingull.
Natsumi leaped glanced at the wingull before she tried to tackle the other zigzagoon. She had hoped her last attack would have brought it down, so she could have focused on the wingull, but it was tougher than it looked. Baldrian used a quick absorb at the zigzagoon, but quickly turned his attention back to the wingull, whom he didn't like to let out of his sight for long.

The Roselia focused her attention at the other Zigzagoon, using an Absorb on it to sucked the remaining life force out of the furball. In a quick flash of green light, the wild Zigzagoon was no more, as it was passed out on the ground, unconscious. On the other hand, the Wingull saw what was happening to its fallen make-shift comrade, and put up another barrier of some kind to shield himself. Natsumi saw that the other Zigzagoon had fainted, but she wasn't going to let that tackle go to waste. Charging on her feet, she ran forward, dashing toward the paralyzed Wingull, as it was on the ground struggling to back on flight to dodge the move. Unfortunately for the bird, the brown furball just rammed into its feathers. But that wasn't the last thing it saw. On the last of its stamina, it suddenly felt that it was warped into a space as a Pokeball was flung forward and captured it. It tried to struggle against the capture inside the Pokeball, but it was no use. In a comforting sound of DING!, the water Pokemon was captured by this human. Great, now it'll actually see that Numel some more.

Dagrun bit her lip as Natsumi chose to tackle the wingull when the zigzagoon fainted. She hadn't been clear enough that she wanted to catch it and if they chased it away it would be difficult to find again. It would be perfect for her first gym battle and it would cover a lot of types as well. To her pleasant surprise the wingull was tougher than it looked, or just more stubborn, and it didn't ran off after the attack but instead stayed to try protect itself more. It didn't protect it against the pokeball, which she threw at it even though it struggled against it for a bit. Dagrun stayed staring at the pokeball even after it had dinged. This was her first official capture in a battle, as she had acquired Fiera and Baldrian in other means. "I did it," she said quietly and pretended to slowly daring to believe it. "I got it!" She cheered and hurried over to pick up the pokeball and turned to praise her two other pokemon and babble happily about her catch. Natsumi stopped her though, as she wanted the food she had been promised and Dagrun happily gave her planty, much to the zigzagoon's delight. Internally Dagrun squirmed of that she let the pokemon twist her around its little paw, but if it made things easier for her alter-ego she was willing to do it. It wasn't going to be very serious anyway and she expected that she was going to be busy as Hulda the moment she got below the surface, which probably would confuse her pokemon but, they wouldn't be much out anyway at that time. They were just there to help her hide in the crowd and make it legitime that she traveled around, she would find them nice homes when she didn't need them anymore.
Suddenly the pokeball shook and the wingull forced its way out of it again. "What? Can you do that?" Dagrun said perplexed and looked closer at the pokeball to be sure it wasn't broken, and then recalled the wingull to be sure. Of course Dagrun knew pokemon could make their way out themselves if necessary, her family deliberately trained their pokemon to be able to that. It was a way they could pop out and help their trainers if needed, and it was very handy when it came to getting them through small spaces, like bars or a drilled hole in a wall.
Wingull popped out a moment later, and headed towards the tree it had been in where Fiera had disturbed it. Dagrun followed it curiously and wanted to see if it just hadn't understood it couldn't stay here anymore or if it had a reason to return, perhaps it had a mate? She wouldn't complain of getting another pokemon on the team as well.
It wasn't a pokemon, but an egg, which the wingull guarded suspiciously at Dagrun came close enough to see. "Ooh," she cooed and quickly withdraw her hand as the wingull pecked it. "You are protective! I will call you Warin, and no worries. We will bring the egg as well, we can't leave it here on its own," Dagrun chatted and pulled her jacket from her back and spent quite some time to convince Warin she was just there to help and wanted to bring them both. Finally she had the egg securely in her arms and Warin fluttering nervously beside her, and began making her way to Rustboro City.

Making her way to Rustboro, Dagrun continued her search to find out information of the "gang" activities (they're more civilized than gangs though), as well as preparing her Pokemon for gym battles. Even though she might have seen a lot of Pokemon in the area, she might not have battled with a trainer yet. Thankfully, today was her lucky day! A young school girl was out studying the non-Pokemon lifeforms around Rustboro City. She might have wandered a little too far for her assignment though, hopefully her teacher will give her the mark for her hard work! When she saw another human coming toward her, she was getting excited, "Ma'am! Are you a Pokemon trainer? I'm getting bored of this assignment and I could use some distractions." She smiled, waving and hollering at the human passing through.

They didn't get far before they were encountered by another trainer, the first one Dagrun had met in this area. She spent a moment to decide how to react to the young child's request as a battle against another trainer would be nice. It was often a bit more challenging than wild pokemon. On the other hand it was just a child and she had hoped to get further to Rustboro. She decided her pokemon needed the training and smiled to the young girl. "So you want a battle? Isn't that going to give you trouble with your teacher, if you have something else you are supposed to do?" Dagrun asked with a smile. It was up to the girl herself how she would handle her task and her teacher, Dagrun didn't have any responsibility of that kind towards her. As an adult though, she felt others would expect her to at least point it out or make sure it was no problem.
As the girl's first pokemon, a shroomish appeared, Dagrun glanced at Warin, who did looked mistrusting at the strangers but didn't seemed like he was ready to throw himself in a fight just now. Dagrun would prefer him to get some experience so he could be useful for her in the gym battle, but she knew his part water type could be a challenge now the opponent was grass type. "If you are sure it is okay that you take a break I will battle you, but I need a moment first," Dagrun told the girl and turned to her wingull, he glanced at her and checked the egg was secure in her arms, before he returned to watch the other human and her small pokemon. "What do you say to a bit of training Warin? That way you can be better at protecting the egg, and learn it now without it being in any danger," Dagrun argued and Warin looked hesitantly at her. "I will not move from the spot and I will not put the egg down, don't worry," Dagrun reassured him and but she had already convinced him. It was a good chance to try become a bit stronger without risking the egg in the same time. As he flew forward Dagrun smiled broadly. "I'm sure you won't regret it, wait a moment," Dagrun said and picked up her pokedex to pretend to look at it and gain information and ideas. "I think it would be smart to start with a Super Sonic, that should make it confused and more difficult to hit you, and then perhaps follow it up with a Wing attack," Dagrun suggested and looked at Baldrian who nodded eagerly as it sounded like a good plan. The wingull hesitated a moment since he preferred to use his Wide Guard a lot and often startet out with it, but this sounded useful at least and he couldn't decide at first, what to do. He ended up doing both, and startet with a Wide Guard, before following it up with a Super Sonic and a Wing Attack.

Karen smiled as the older woman accepted her challenge. Sweet! "Nah, this is a summer assignment and I won't see my teacher for another couple weeks." She then waited for Dagrun to sorted out some things with her Wingull, which seemed to be very protective of the egg. However, seeing that it would be a flying type that she sent out, Karen was feeling concerned on the inside. "Ooh, a Pokemon Egg? We had that once in elementary school and we all take turns watching it. A Zigzagoon hatched from it and that was some fun times in school!" She commented and smiled, thinking about her younger, simpler school days. Seeing that the Wingull was finally attacking, she called out her moves. "Shroomish, start off with a Tackle and then a Mega Drain!" She called as she watched the Wingull setting up a Wide Guard, but she wasn't sure if it did anything. The grass type went forward and slammed onto the coastal bird, making Warin squawked in pain as no one expected this little bulb of mushroom to be heavy enough to dish some damage. Then, the bird used his close range and squawked an annoying sound, making the grass type confused. However, it was able to collect itself enough to use an accurate mega drain on the Wingull. Afterwards, the bird flew forward and slapped the mushroom head with his wing, striking it as hard as it can. Karen seized this opportunity and hollered, "Use Stun Spore!" The grass type exploded a cloud of yellow dusts from the tip of its head, and made the bird type's nerves too numb to move on his own. Karen shouted a good job on her Pokemon being so good.

"Ah, then there is no problem I assume, I had forgot that your summer vacation had already started as it is quite some time ago I went to school," Dagrun laughed. To be honest she never had had a real summer vacation, that was not a thing in the ninja village. She was home-schooled and her years had been equally learning ninja skills, normal schooling like reading and maths, and acting since 90% of the job was being undercover as an unsuspecting person and gather information. She hadn't had time for vacations really and when they had traveled abroad it was just as much to learn about other cultures and train their skills in fitting in and being unnoticed. They had often started with the easy task of acting as a naive turist. Dagrun smiled when the girl told about the zigzagoon egg she had once helped taking care of, though she dearly hoped this egg was something more interesting than a zigzagoon, especially because she already had one of those and she had a feeling Warin wouldn't let go of his baby when it hatched so she would be stuck with it for quite some time. "Sounds really fun, where is that zigzagoon now?" Dagrun asked seemingly curiously. Dagrun would have asked about what kind of assignment Karen were on, but the battle begun and did not went in the good direction for Dagrun and her pokemon. This young girl were more skilled than she looked like.
Warin did manage to hit with his supersonic, after having attempted to protect himself with a move that made no difference here, unfortunately it didn't seem like the shroomish was affected at all by the confusion as it still managed to drain quite a lot of the wingull's energy. So much so quickly he dropped close tot he ground and had to fight to stay airborne. He did manage to hit it with his wings but then a cloud of spores were blown in his face and his already protesting muscles started to spasm. He landed and looked quite lost.
"Oh no!" Dagrun gasped and hurried to his side. "It will all be alright, don't worry," she told him and he looked skeptically at her as he didn't think her training idea was so good anymore. Dagrun called out Fiera instead and the numel stood a moment before she closed her eyes to enjoy the sun. "See? You are not alone here, we're helping each other," Dagrun reassured Warin as she tried to make it look like they were all one big happy family, and she found her paralyze heal and used it on him. "I'm very sorry this went this bad, it is all my fault since I'm not as experienced in this yet," Dagrun said apologetically and Warin looked a bit less accusing at her, much to her satisfaction.
"Fiera, why aren't you attacking? Please you Ember," Dagrun said and sounded confused as the numel still hadn't moved. Fiera opened her eyes a bit and and very slowly opened her mouth before spewing embers in what you could only call a dull way.

Karen nodded her head, of course she was on summer vacation! Otherwise, she wouldn't be out here at this hour when she was supposed to be in school. Then, she smiled while trying to remember what happened to the Zigzagoon. "Hmm... We had a class contest on who could keep the Zigzagoon, but it was some other kid who had better grades and attendance than all of us, haha. If I didn't get sick from eating ice cream last October." She commented, remembering how she got sick last year and had to missed a few days. Nevermind the fact that there were actually five other people out of the entire class who would be fighting academically over a Zigzagoon. Seeing the fire type, Karen muttered an "oh no" as the Nnumel was sent out. Then, Karen decided to just tell her confused Shroomish to use another Stun Spore. The confused and aimless mushroom head wandered around, twirling, stopping, feet moving in uncoordinated manner. However, that didn't stop the grass type from releasing yellow powders from its head that somehow made the Numel paralyzed. Next, she had her Shroomish used Leech Seed this time. A giant brown seed popped out of its head and flew toward the numel's direction, exploding the shell containing some magic vines inside that wrapped around the fire type. Fiera might look dull but he could feel her energy being sapped. The confused Shroomish couldn't control itself and fired another Leech Seed that went nowhere close to Fiera, and then was scorched by the fire attack that instantly woke it up from the confusion, from the shock of temperature change.

"So the winner was the one who was best in the class?" Dagrun asked with a smile and found it a bit unfair to the ones who perhaps were less academic or had bene unlucky with sickness. On the other hand, you could never make such competition completely fair as someone would always be naturally better or have tried it before. Beside, it was just a zigzagoon, if other wanted one they could easily capture one themselves or buy one. Dagrun suddenly saw a chance to learn a bit about what pokemon Karen had as she knew she was at a bit disadvantage by Karen knowing what pokemon Dagrun had. Everyone expect Fiera had been outside when they met after all, and usually it wasn't a problem when it was just random encounters like this, against trainers who were doing it for fun. It was another story when it came to the more serious battles she had had as ninja. The less the opponent knew about you, the better. "So how did you get your pokemon?" Dagrun asked curiously and sounded like she was just interested, now they had talked about who got the hatched zigzagoon. Dagrun was willing to tell about her pokemon as well and she didn't even have to lie with her current team as they didn't needed to be kept a secret.
After a bit she would turn to Warin, who moved more easily but still looked rather beaten and disheartened. "You still have a chance," she encouraged him, "remember, you aren't alone and we're here to help each other." Dagrun sighed internally of the sugersweet stuff she was saying, but if it helped to get the pokemon to work better, she was willing to say it. She found a potion and used it on him, and noticed that she would need to visit a Pokemart soon as her stock was rather low. "I know you can do this, get in there and try find the right moment to slap it with your wings. Your Wide Guard won't help in this situation but you can surely beat it with a few blows of your powerful wings," Dagrun told him cheerfully and he looked a bit sceptically at her, before he leaped into the air and took Fiera's place. Dagrun recalled the numel as it was the only way she could be sure Fiera wouldn't continue the battle. For now Warin waited a bit with attacking and instead kept a close eye on the shroomish.

"Yeah, basically that. It's okay though! I got myself a Shroomish! Look at how cute they are!" Karen responded, but her Shroomish made a shy blush about being put on spotlight about its appearance. The human giggled a bit and then resumed. "It was a Christmas present that Santa gave me in my sock." She joked, as that's totally not what happened. She then later added that her parents agreed with Nurse Joy to give this one to her, after she had been just friendly with this Shroomish the few times she visited Pokemon Center for her cold or visiting other students/kids who were sick. "Well you don't give up either, Shroomish! This is your opportunity to hit them with your Tackle!" She shouted after she notice Dagrun was talking to her Wingull. Well, this would be her opportunity for Shroomish to hit the Numel. Little did she know, the Numel was soon returned to the Pokeball and Warin was back in the field. The grass type was able to maneuver itself to hit a flying Pokemon.

Dagrun smiled warmly as Karen happily told about how she got shroomish, though she hadn't revealed if she had other pokemon and if so which one. "I agree, it really is cute!" Dagrun said and thought that breloom were really useful as well as pokemon. Keeping their ability to throw spores and such, while their legs and arms gave them speed and a chance to throw strong punches around. "Sounds like Santa knew what he was doing then, did you wish for a shroomish?" Dagrun asked and wondered how to get the knowledge she wanted out of the girl. She decided she could share a bit of her own as well and went with the story she had decided for Dagrun's pokemon. "I started out with buying Fiera, the numel you saw before and Natsumi there and Baldrian here shortly after," Dagrun explained as she pointed at the respective pokemon. If asked how she got them, she would say that she had bought them as well. "Warin and his egg is the newest members of my team, but I'm sure they will fit right in," she said cheerfully and followed Karen's example by encouraging her wingull. "You are doing great Warin, Use a Wing Attack!" Dagrun called out to him and smiled as he followed her order.
Warin had had respect for the shroomish, and it hadn't become less after the first round of attacks. He didn't think the tackle was as bad as the stealing of his energy, and he hoped that Dagrun was right this could help him protect his unhatched young one. It was clear he wouldn't have been able to beat the mushroom by himself but perhaps this could be his chance and he could come out victorious. If Dagrun was right in that, there was suddenly a big argument to stay with her, to give the egg the biggest chance in start of life. If he also grew stronger, it would be easier for him to protect it as well if Dagrun and her pokemon should prove to be a problem towards his dear one.
As soon as the battle continued, Dagrun would continue her questioning of Karen. "Do you have got any other pokemon than Shroomish? You know, have you battled and captured someone or has Santa given you more pokemon?" Dagrun asked with a curious smile.

"I was hoping for a Seel or a Shroomish, but I don't know how much I like the cold," Karen responded to the question about Santa, giggling a little. She nodded as she heard about Dagrun's answer on how she got her Pokemon. So, apparently you could buy a Pokemon if you have enough currency on hand. Well, it looked like she could never adventure on her own, yet, or have enough currency on hand. Her face made a brief second of disappointment after thinking about that. Before she could answer about her other Pokemon, the Wingull swooped down and knocked out her Shroomish with another Wing Attack. Her Pokemon may be done for, but this battle was not. She grabbed the grass type's Pokeball and returned her fallen friend. "You did great, Shroomish! Return! Now to answer your question, I did befriend this little Wishmur while doing assignment the other day in this route. I thought they usually lives in Rusturf Tunnel," She replied, and then tossed out a Pokeball, revealing a pink Pokemon known as Whismur.
FIera gained 1 level and 10 happiness for participation! She wants to learn Magnitude, delete a move?
Warin gained 3 levels and 10 happiness for winning! He wants to learn Mist, delete a move?
Karen is not done yet! She sent out her (Level 12) Whismur!
