"Oooh, so Growth makes you stronger!" Dagrun exclaimed happily and looked up from the pokedex, "Huh? When did you get bigger? Nevermind, Baldrian use Growth!" Baldrian grinned and applied and throroughly enjoyed his trainers surprsied exclamations when he once more grew a couple of times. He didn't care much for the tackles he got from the wurmple, nor the stingy needles, if he continued like this he would soon get all his energy back by absorbing it from the bug. He didn't attack immediately this time though as Dagrun sounded like she tried to learn how this worked and you learned best by doing. "Sooo," Dagrun said slowly, again with her nose in the pokedex, "you only have one damaging move it seems, and Wurmple will pretty surely not be going with any fire attacks, which means.." Dagrun continued slowly so it was good Baldrian had so much patience. "Absorb it must be, can you try use that?" Dagrun then decided and Baldrian eagerly did as asked, while Dagrun watched with an amazed expression on her face. Dagrun was pleased how this training session helped build a bond between her and the pokemon, and would make it possible for her to act a bit less clueless about what she was doing. She was supposed to act like a new traveling trainer and she needed to be able to get the badges at some point.

Continuing her facade of being a new trainer, the new trainer learned about her baby Pokemon's absorb and growth attacks. By using growth a few more times, the young Pokemon was able to grew a little bigger for his size, and as well as channel more strength into his attack. The Wurmple seemed to have fired volleys of poison stings again, and Baldrian seemed to be a slightly easier target with the slight growth. Though honestly, if Dagrun picked up her Pokemon it would probably feel the same and look the same. Then, when the grass type was done charging by growing little bit bigger, Baldrian used the weird glowing absorb attack again, draining some more life force out of the bug type while regaining some. The bug crawled quickly again to pounce on the Budew, making some damage from its impact and the grass type landing on the floor. The Budew got back up, as the move was kind of nothing.

"Oh! Are you alright Baldrian?" Dagrun asked flustered when the budew got tackled, and Baldrian cheerfully reassured her that he was fine. "That's right, the absorb give you energy doesn't it?" Dagrun said slowly and Baldrian hopped up and down to show how full of energy he was, and that she was right. "Good! Then use another Growth and continue with absorb!" Dagrun said excitedly and continued a bit more somberly, "it is going quite good, isn't it?" "Bu-budew!" Baldrian confirmed happily and did as she had asked him. She was learning! That was good, it was nice with a trainer who actually listened to him and who tried to be better instead of just blaming him for everything that went wrong. He had had a trainer a long time ago who had done so, and who had eventually released him even though she had caught him because he was different colored as she stated he was so invaluable he wasn't worth selling. It had hurt back then but it has been so long since then, and he had been good at avoiding and fending off other trainers, that he didn't care about it anymore.
Dagrun was pleased it was working well, if they continued to bond like this, even if it was only with her disquise, he would soon evolve and be much more useful. Such little bug shouldn't be a problem for him, and she could use it to praise him even more or something.

Continuing the battle, the trainer now "learnt" about things like buffing and draining move. With the combination of Growth and Absorb, Baldrian seemed to be kind of unstoppable, as he could drain more life out of the Wurmple each time. The Wurmple continued the assault of Tackle, and well, String Shot. He could feel and see himself moving slower than the bug after the second String Shot, but it was no worries, as all the mighty Tackle did was nothing compared to his powerful life force suction. The Wurmple tried and tried to wear the Budew down, but the grass type just seemed to be energetic as ever! On the other hand, the Wurmple did seemed to be looking tired, with its squishy body looking like it would collapse in the next life steal.

Dagrun was actually quite surprised how effective Baldrian was, she had not expected that back when she caught him. She knew rosalias could be quite powerful and she had met several people who had them, though they were rarently used by her colleagues. They were too popular and drew too much attention for it to be really useful for a ninja, too recognizable. Dagrun had thought she could easily use it as a trademark to distinguish herself from her alter-ego, though she wasn't too interested in being too known as Dagrun either of course, could make it harder to slip away and work for real, when she needed to. That Rosalias had been powerful she knew, but she had always thought budews to be quite pathetic when it came to battles, and the only reason she had caught him was that he was shiny, and if nothing else she could get a good prize for him. If he was as useful as it looked at the moment, there were no need for that, beside she needed some pokemon for her journey to collect badges, would be a problem if she fell behind on that part of the plan.
"Ooh, looks like that was a close one," Dagrun said as the wurmple did look really tired and she was surprised it was still standing. "Bu-budew!" Baldrian said excited as he felt sure he would win this battle, and he wanted to show Dagrun that he was something more than just cute. Dagrun looked thoughtful at the Wurmple, should she try capture it? She decided against it, even though Baldrian was more useful than expected he was still only a budew and wasn't that strong. That he quite easily beated the bug suggested it was rather weak, and she didn't really have any use for it. Wurmples weren't exactly what was most sought after and since they were so common she didn't think she could really sell it for much. Perhaps not even for the prize of a pokeball.
"You are doing great Baldrian! Come on, I think you will end the battle soon!" Dagrun cheered and remembered she should be less experienced. "Do you need to use another Growth before zapping it some more?" She asked and hoped he wasn't so uncertain of himself that he wanted to be on the safe side and strengthen himself more. "Dew!" He answered and instantly used another absorb. They were both sure the wurmple couldn't take another hit, though Dagrun made sure to hide her knowledge.

As the battle continued, the young Budew was proving himself to be a strong one, especially after Absorbing a lot of the bug type's energy. It was like no matter how much scratch the poison stings were or how much bruise the tackle could cause, the Budew would drain the energy back for recovery. After answering the inept trainer's question, the cheerful young plant used another Absorb, and drained the remaining life out of the Wurmple. Well, there wasn't much to drain anyways, as Baldrian felt like it took a single drop of water. Then, the Wurmple passed out on the ground from the fatigue of the battle. As if that wasn't enough, a few seconds after the battle was over, the grass type's body glowed, as if it was evolving soon. The worn out Wurmple took this opportunity to crawl away to safety.

The battle was quickly over and Dagrun was pleased with her decission. The wurmple really hadn't been much and she would probably have been stuck with it for quite some time. The shiny budew on the other hand showed quite some experience and Dagrun wondered what he had been up to before she had captured him, she hadn't really giving him a chance when she had just looped the looped the pokeball at him fromher hiding place without giving him a chance to defend himself. She hadn't thought he was much back then either, and had only captured him because he was shiny and knew how rare it was you came across something like that. To be honest she had expected she had went to sell him to highest bidder but he had been quite useful until now, even though he hadn't battled much for her and the ones he had had been against weaklings. Of course there were other ways of being effective than fighting and that was how he had proved his worth until now, she needed loyal and helpful pokemon for her "pokemon journey" and he was a good pokemon to help her seem like one. If she just could get him to evolve so he could be usefull all around. Well, there were only one way to go if she wanted that to happen at some point.
"We did it! We really did it!" Dagrun exclaimed happily and clapped her hands, which made Baldrian turn to look at her. He grinned at her childish excitement. "I mean, you did it! You won the battle and you taught me so much! Thank you," Dagrun said gratefully and wondered if she did too much out of it and he would get suspicious. She got her answer a moment later when a bright light surrounded the budew and the surprise gaping Dagrun made was anything else than faked.
As the light faded and Baldrian moved his new arms around and looked pussled at his flowerhands, Dagrun stood like a statue and just stared at him. The wurmple was completely forgotten by both of them. Dagrun had to fight to keep herself from showing any excitement, it had happened much faster than she had expected, but it wouldn't be fitting for Dagrun to celebrate and show she knew about evolutions, not when she was meant to be so clueless still.
"Baldrian? Is that you?" She instead asked slowly and as the roselia confirmed, she let her alterego understand. "That must have been those evolution I have heard so much about," she continued dazed and slowly alloved a grin to spread across her face. "Wow! Congratulation!" She said awed and crouched down to give him a hug when he walked over to her. Not a thing she usually did, but it fitted with this personality and she had to admit to herself that it was quite nice. She would call Natsumi out a bit later to give the pokemon a chance to get accustomed to Baldrians new form.

Getting used to her new form, the young grass type grew from a Pokemon with just legs to one with actually arms and legs this time. The Budew was now a Roselia and also getting bigger. It might have been the evolution, or it was his use of Growth that promoted the growth. The evolution did caught the attention of other Pokemon though. While it was glowing bright, a small, blue Pokemon flew from the trees into a bush, hiding and observing the grass type for an opportunity when it wasn't close to the human or the Zigzagoon that just came out. Then, it grew impatient, and just began chirping and hopping on the ground toward the group. Not to mention, the weather was kind of hot out. The air seemed to be warming up and the sun's heat seemed to be touching the ground without the barrier of millions of leaves blocking the rays.

Dagrun watched her two pokemon interact and chat with each other. This was a good start on her gym battle team, though they wouldn't be very affective against Flannery, as Baldrian wouldn't be able to do much, no matter how much he evolved. The best would of course be if she could get a water type to help out, but she didn't have the patience to sit and fish for one so she would just hope she would be lucky enough to run into one at some point. She looked thoughtfully at Natsumi, the zigzagoon should be able to do a thing or two as well, but she surely couldn't take the whole gym by herself. She would need to find some extra pokemon to help with the battle, but it would probably be a good idea too, to train Fiera and see if she couldn't get to numel to do a thing or to. Fiera had been quite lively back when she caught her, but since she had been really dull and not very cooperative, which wasn't promising to use for a gym battle.
Dagrun sighed and wiped her forehead before looking up at the sky, wasn't it getting warmer? That would only be a advantage for Fiera, perhaps that would make a difference. A chirping caught her attention and Dagrun smiled at the taillow that hoppep closer. She did not know what it wanted, but it would be a fine opponent to Fiera,
Natsumi and Baldrian was busy chatting and test out the roselia's new improved movement. The zigzagoon did her best to keep the jealoucy at bay, she was sure she would get there in time as well and she was happy for Baldrian, but she wanted to experience it too. Baldrian jumped startled when the taillow had suddenly got close and he jumped to stand behind Natsumi, while glancing nervously towards Dagrun in the fear she wanted to put him up against the flying type. "Hi, can I help you?" Natsumi asked the taillow curiously.
Dagrun didn't plan on sending Baldrian out into battle, she was supposed to have learned a bit. Beside he has already evolved and wasn't going to be useful for her first targeted gym, so he wasn't her main focus anymore. The numel appeared in front of her a moment later and closed her eyes to enjoy the sun and the warmth it gave her. "Good Fiera, I'd like for you to attack that bird over there, just for training," Dagrun told the numel, who didn't react but just seemed to stand and enjoy the sun. Fiera focused her energy while she was doing it, should she get attacked. In a weather like this she wouldn't have any problem being a bit active and fight.

The bird might be chirping and hopping, but unless the bird was getting a little too annoying or about to hit her, she wasn't going to move. The sun surely was warm as the Numel half-closed her eyes to relax in the midday sun. The fierce Taillow, on the other hand, cawed and then charged up an energy within itself, after hearing what the trainer was going to order her Pokemon. The Numel had a different method of focus energy. Closing her eyes completely, Fiera hummed as an energy built up within her body. Then, when she was ready, she opened her eyes again, but technically not moving. Her eyes do looked a bit more energetic though.

Dagrun didn'thave any problem acting unsure when Fiera didn't do anything other than enjoying the sun. It wwas a long time since she had had a pokemon whom she was unsure of how to handle, that must have been back when she was a kid! Before she got Keith even, and she had had the greninja since she was 11, so it was a very long time ago. She had to find a way to motivate the slow numel, it couldn't be true it would never use any of its attacks. It was a shame the taillow hadn't attacked, since that may have made things easier, perhaps Fiera hadn't evennoticed she was actually in a battle? "Hey, Fiera? Numel?" Dagrun said testingly and went to crouch beside the numel and poked her a bit in the side. Fiera sighed but didn't react in any other way. Dagrun glanced at the taillow to see if it was about to attack, and she herself should get out of the way. Dagrun looked over at her two other pokemon, she could of course just use them instead but that would only help a bit in the current situation, and not in the long time run. Natsumi would almost certainly be able to deal with this bird as well, but she wouldn't be able to take on the gym all by herself. It was crucial that she got all who could help, trained up so they could help! "Fiera? Couldn't you try an attack for me? What if I gave you something for it? I'm not sure what you want though, berries or something else to eat?" Dagrun asked the nonresponsive numel. Natsumi on the other hand looked excited and took a few steps towards the taillow. "Natsumi! No!" Dagrun exclaimed, she got stubborn now, she wanted Fiera to take this battle, but how? The zigzagoon sat down sulking.
Fiera did understand what Dagrun said to her, but she had no intention of showing that. If she revealed herself as clever they would just start to expect things for her, better to act dull and be unpredictable. She was very well aware of the taillow and she was rather surprised it hadn't attacked her yet, but perhaps it was just wary. The sun was really nice and she could feel how it warmed her up, making the lava inside her run faster, and it could be fun to make an outburst while feeling this energetic. She opened her eyes and without warning shot an Ember after the taillow. Without waiting to see if it hit, she raced surprisingly fast after her own fires, and would continue all the way until she could tackle the bird.
Dagrun jumped backwards when Fiera suddenly reacted and attacked the taillow. What had happened? Baldrian had been about to repeat the question to taillow which Natsumi had asked earlier, though neither of the two seemed like it interested them. Instead he got surprised by sudden flames and he spun around to run to safety.

After the sun had helped heat up her body, and then her internal organs, the dull looking Numel suddenly outburst and blasted a volley of ember from her mouth. The many specks of flames flew at high speed in the Taillow's direction, and the poor bird soon found itself scorching hot for a couple seconds. Thankfully, it learned to rolled on the ground to put out the flames, so as to not get burnt, but the flying type did took quite a number of damage. The (now) angry bird now retaliated by hopping forward as the Numel approached, and gave her a sharp peck as sharp as its developing beak would give. The energy charging earlier had helped the peck to strike an impact on the Numel, but the dull looking Pokemon was actually quite a bit sturdy and took the hit like nothing, even though it was kind of painful. Then, seizing the opportunity of close proximity, the fire type dash and leaped a little forward and slammed that angry bird. Well, that was kind of a workout?

"You did it Fiera! Well done!" Dagrun explained as the numel left the taillow in the dust. Dagrun still didn't know what it was that had made the numel cooperate and she had a feeling the numel hadn't really obeyed her but merely done her own thing. She couldn't show that of course and acted like she thought Fiera had done it just for her. "Thank you, you are so great," Dagrun praised and crouched with her hands out like she expected the numel to run into her arms to get a hug, which she really hoped would not happen since the numel was so hot. It didn't as Fiera didn't even acted like she knew the others were around nor that she had won a battle, as she continued her outburst and ran around. Dagrun frowned and slowly made her hands drop as she looked confused at the active numel. She glanced at her two other pokemon, who kept a safe distance to Fiera and kept looked uncertain back at her. She sighed and got to her feet, she had to try do something. "Fiera, calm down the battle is over," she called out but there were no change in the numels behavior and Dagrun crossed her arms as she thought. She narrowed her eyes and glanced at the sky, the only difference she could see was the warmth of the sun, perhaps that was what made Fiera so energetic? It probably was, which was useful to know when battling but gave no answer to how to control her, other than cooling her down, and she didn't have any water types.
Suddenly Baldrian called to her and when she looked up to see what was up, she saw that Fiera was more or less running away. "Wait! No!" Dagrun gasped and ran after the surprisingly fast numel. "Come on, we need to catch up to her!" Dagrun shouted to her too other pokemon, who willingly ran after her, Baldrian soon fell behind while Natsumi had no problem keeping up. Dagrun thought dryly to herself that she had no problem behaving like a noob, as Fiera really made her feel like one. She was happy this didn't happen back home and she would have been laughed at for years!
Natsumi didn't care much about the numel, she only cared about avoiding getting trambled. She happily followed Dagrun as she had talked about berries, perhaps there was a chance for her to get some of it if she made a good impression. Baldrian was not happy for the whole situation. Fiera hadn't seem too bad until now as she had always been so slow and dull, but this side of her was frightening to a grass type like him. She would easily be able to catch up to him should she try chase him, but the worst was her unpredictableness.

While Fiera successfully had defeated the opponent Taillow all on her own, the fiery sun from the earlier battle had made the usually dull and seemingly lax Numel suddenly energetic. The fire type continued running with her excess energy, making a loud stampede noise as her suddenly powerful hooves stomped on the ground, kicking sand off her path, and sending confused wild Pokemon running away. Thankfully though, the area she went into had some more trees back, and each leaves growing from the branches blocked a little more sunlight reaching the ground. This area of the route would be temporarily cooler, but would it be enough to stop the Numel? A sleeping Wingull asleep on top of a tree was disturbed by the running fire type. It opened one of its eyes to spot the perpetrator. What is this Numel doing here and disturbing its sleep? The reasonably angry bird flew down and cawed as loud as it could as it came down. In addition, the Numel's stampede caught the attention of another Pokemon. A lone Zigzagoon was not sure which way it came from, and it was running in circles frantically as it was indecisive which way to go. One way had a little too many trees that it would be hard to squeeze through. The other way had a little bit of thorny plants that would scratch and hurt it. This Zigzagoon wasn't that bright at all. When the Numel was approaching soon, the normal type had no choice but to growled loudly to stop, on top of the Wingulll's timely caw.

Fiera enjoyed the warmth and the energi to run, it wasn't often she felt like it and she usually stayed slow around humans since that made them lose patience with her and release her, so she could continue to do what she wanted. It could be too boring in the long run and just as volcanoes she needed to get rid of the extra energy once in a while, and this time it was right now. The cool from the shade didn't do that much to cool her down, it would need a proper rain for something like that to happen, though with this many lush trees it looked like that could happen here quite often, which wasn't a thought Fiera liked much. Ground and rocks took time to heat up, but on the other hand kept the heat pretty well afterwards too, so the numel still felt full of energy though she, just like a volcano were more calm after the first outburst. Fiera didn't really get to slow down much, as two pokemon approached her and worded their displeasure with her. Usually that wouldn't be much of a problem, she and her friends back home had just argued for their right to be there, butshe wasn't very keen on "arguing" with a water type that was even high up in the air, and she paused for a moment. That gave Dagrun a chance to catch up and smield triumphically when she saw just the thing she needed: a water type and a flying one too. She quickly wiped it off as it wouldn't fit the uncertain trainer she pretended to be and she made a slow stop to watch the scene before her for a moment, giving Baldrian time to catch up with her as well. It was clear Fiera wouldn't be able to take this battle, but it would be best of Dagrun didn't "knew" that right away. "Ro-roselia!" Baldrian exclaimed and waved one of his roses with a worried look on his face. "What? Something is wrong?" Dagrun asked and looked at the pokemon ahead of them and how Fiera slowly backed away from the wingull. "It is a really bad matchup for Fiera, isn't it?" Dagrun asked and recalled the numel as she was confirmed it was so by Baldrian. "Natsumi, try get their attention will you? And Baldrian, go out and help, please," Dagrun asked and watched as her zigzagoon calmly trottet out to Growl at the two wild pokemon, with Baldrian right behind her. Usually the normal type was much faster, but it looked like she perhaps would need som motivation. Dagrun got a bit annoyed, why should more of her pokemon suddenly be less cooperative? It was easier when you could train them like ninjas and they knew how important things was, rather than this loose version. "Baldrian, can you slow down the bird? And Natsumi, can you attack the other?" Dagrun called out and hoped they got the hints and would do something useful. She didn't have to worry as Natsumi attacked with a Rock Climb, attempting to "climb" the other zigzagoon, which couldn't be very pleasant, and Baldrian threw Stun Spore at the wingull, which he too wanted slowed down as much as possible. (ooc: Fiera and Natsumi in first. Fiera switches with Baldrian and Natsumi uses Growl. Baldrian uses Stun Spore on Wingull, while Natsumi uses Rock Climb on zigzagoon.
