Day one: Forest walk (route 102) Mirella knew she had made the right decision. She knew this. It still hurt though. It hurt not knowing what to do in the morning, hurt not having a steady job, hurt standing on uneven ground, and she was still angry and frustrated and unsure of herself. But most of all she was heartbroken, because of her fishing rod. She was standing at the small lake within the city borders of Petalburg. She had called her father to tell him what happened. He hadn't said much, but he didn't have to. She was a grown woman and knew he stood by her no matter what. He was also getting old however, and he had done one thing that surprised her. He had sent her one of his own catches. She had never really paid attention to all the rave about Pokemon. She loved her water types, but that was it. Now she wondered what to do. She looked at the quiet water, untouched by line and sinker, and she felt her heart break once more. She needed another fishing rod. However, they weren't easy to come by strangely enough. Hoenn was Island and water everywhere, but to get a rod you needed the right contacts. Contacts Mirella didn't have. She sighed and turned the two Pokeballs in her hand. She still had her small apartment, but no other attachments to the city. She wanted to visit her father, but she had said she would be a little while yet. Mirella turned her eyes away from the lake, and looked to the path to Oldale. She had no intention of going all the way to Oldale, but route 102 was the closest place to meet some water Pokemon without a rod. And she had never actual gone exploring. Just for today she would do nothing but take a small slender into the forest on route 102. She could always decide what to do tomorrow. OOC: because you're heading east toward 102, I have moved the thread to Oldale Town board. Also hi and welcome to PMU! This is your first Pokemon battle and a mini-tutorial! You are allowed to use up to three turns for wild Pokemon battles, but you may use less if you find 3 turns risky. Also OOC is with you to roll a surskit so fast. IC: With another Pokemon from her father as a gift, Mirella now have two Pokemon in her party to defend her from whatever that might appear suddenly. Having made her decision to move toward the eastern route of Petalburg City, she moved toward Route 102, in hopes of finding some water Pokemon such as the Lotad or the rare Surskit that lives in the area. Although nothing seemed to appear at first, some Pokemon heard the sounds of a human footsteps and ran away. Some kicking off mud from the ground as they went. A young and naive Surskit was confused about what all the fuzz was. Uncovering itself from a pile of leaves as camouflage, the bug type poked its small head out from the grass, just enough to see this "human" appearing in front of it. A sudden itch in its nose made the Surskit sneezed, and blowing a comedic bubble in the process. The bubble floated in the air, and it was so out of place in the peaceful route 102.

Day one: Forest walk (route 102) Her first steps into the forested route was met with silence, and the sound of small creatures skittering off. Mirella's heart sank. It was easy to be still and quiet, but she couldn't help making sounds while walking, and it obviously scared the inhabitants of the route. This way she wouldn't have a chance of meeting any of the Pokemon in here. Mirella was really inexperienced with things that didn't have to do with fishing. Yet she squared her shoulders and wandered on, determined to try and relax at least. After a little while she calmed down and started looking and the trees and plants. She had even started smiling to herself, when something moved in the grass nearby, and she stopped to watch closer. A bubble grew from the grass. It was so out of place, Mirella had to cover up a laugh with a hand. Then she saw what had made the bubble and she gasped in wonder. Surskit wasn't exactly common, she knew. "Oh, oh," she half-whispered in agitation and fumbled with Whiskas' Pokeball. On the one hand she didn't want to scare the Surskit off with sudden moves. On the other hand, she really, really wanted to get it with. Though she didn't live and breath for Pokemon battling and all that trainer stuff, she did know most cases demanding some kind of battle, if the capture was to succeed. She had just been extremely lucky with her Barboach. However, she fumbled and dropped one of her Pokeballs. A small sound chimed, and the gift from her father stood in front of Mirella. She blinked in surprise "Ah-Okay," she said, picking up the ball anew. First now she noticed a piece of paper attached to the ball. 'Caddis' she read. "Caddis? That's your name? Did you help father lure in the fish or something?" she commented, while pocketing the ball and check that the Surskit hadn't run off in the meantime. The Corphish clicked her pinchers and did a funny little jig with her multiple legs. All in all she looked ready for a fight. Mirella winced, but nodded none-the-less. "Just don't be too rough on it."Caddis huffed and started making bubbles on her own. (Ooc: Corphish uses Dragon Dance, and then Bubble Corphish' name: Caddis Corphish' personality: Adamant and headstrong with a rigid fighting spirit. She gets border line furious if things don't go her way, and it can be at anything from a nick of food to the result of battles. She thinks herself very strong and clever, and don't believe for a second that any human know better than her. Even other Pokemon should watch out when trying to offer up well meaning advise.)

Completely new to this Pokemon trainer business, it was a hit or miss when one walks in the wilderness. Some Pokemon were drawn to strange sounds in their niche, and some were repelled and scuttled away. FInally, when she thought that there were no Pokemon wanting to meet this human, a single Pokemon stood out. Accidentally dropping a Pokeball and sending this funny multiple legged friend into the fray, Mirella was ready for her first Pokemon battle. The Corphish danced boldly in front of the bubbly Surskit, hopping and wiggling her legs as a strange red and purple aura surrounded the water Pokemon. Well, apparently the enemy Surskit was quicker, and blew a bubble at the dancing Caddis. The bubble popped loudly and splashed the Corphish, but of course the water type felt nothing. She once again tried to do the dance, and the mystically colored aura surrounded her, filling her with energy for the battle! Then, the water Pokemon practically traded their Bubble attacks. The Corphish was first this time, and was able to make a bubble big enough to make the Surskit winced its face visibly enough for Mirella to see it. The Surskit, on the other hand, made a bubble slippery enough that Caddis slipped and got a little angry at the water Pokemon.
OOC: updated profile. experimental battle table, let me know what you think hilarious, RNG gives a crit for corphish and then speed reduction from Surskit. Since my theme's uses green fonts, I'm not sure if green colored text would look good for hp or just bold.

Day one: Forest walk (Route 102) Caddis grumbled at the slippery surface and clipped her pinchers in aggressive warning. The Surskit better not believe it had the upper hand just because it had managed to slow her down again. She took a big breath and let an entire eruption of bubbles out in the air. At least in her own opinion. Mirella watched the battle unfold, gnawing on a fingernail. It was only extra edgy, since she didn't know Caddis and her reactions at all. Had the Corphish looked mad just now? She certainly didn't look like, she was being careful with her attacks. "Take it easy now, Caddis. Don't scare it." she tried to admonish. When the Corphish obviously didn't listen, she stated like she was arguing with a petulant child: "If you don't behave yourself, I'm taking you back in the ball. Whiskas at least listens to me." No sooner said than done, Mirella called Caddis back to get Whiskas out like she had planned originally. Whiskas she was comfortable with, and though she had most often just let the Pokemon she caught with the rod slip out in the water first thing, Whiskas had helped her out against those rare cases, that wouldn't return to the sea without a fight. "Just a little mud-slap to distract it."It took a moment for Whiskas to maneuver the grassy ground, used to the beach and sea as he was, but in time he got the hang of exploiting his slimy surface for movement on the dry land, so he wasn't a landed Magikarp at least. (Ooc: Caddis uses Bubble, Whiskas changes in, Whiskas uses Mud-Slap) (More ooc: Well, we have to test the colors then: Green| Blue| Red| Yellow| Orange| Violet| Purple Orange and Violet is out for my eyes. Trying more: | Beige| Burgundy| Azure| Aqua| Brown I could probably go on forever. Here's a link to the color names in html: www.w3schools.com/colors/colors_names.aspI like the table, though I, having learned a bit about coding by now, am wondering about padding and centered text. You can center everything in the table by adding: "text-align:center;" into the first box that says 'table'. You just change the one word 'table' to 'table style="text-align:center;"' - It is of course purely aestetic, and I've gotten a bit damaged from exploring the field. How much coding are you familiar with? Other than that it is a nice way of getting an overview of all the turns, and there seems to be plenty of room for more battle data, like items and the like. Edit: more experimenting with colors

Angry at the opponent Surskit for slowing her down with the bubble attack, the mad Corphish used her own bubble to retaliate. The water bug fought back with its own Bubble, and the two traded Bubble attack once more. Well, if the Surskit had known other moves, it surely would use those moves by now. Heh. However, the Corphish was sent back to her Pokeball, replaced by another Pokemon on the field. The Surskit was now facing a rather slimy, slippery looking Pokemon known as Barboach. After examining this fishy Pokemon, the Surskit used another Bubble, and Whiskas silently took the hit during the switch. When he settled after the switch, the gentleman Barboach powerfully swung his tail, flinging mud at high speed at the Surskit, leaving mud on its vision in the process. Even though it had a bit of vision difficulty after the mud-slap, the bug type continued and blew another bubble at Whiskas, hitting him right on.

Day one: Forest walk (Route 102) "Keep it coming, Whiskas, I almost got it." Mirella breathed. She wasn't really looking anymore, now calm in the assurance Whiskas got it under control. She was instead searching her pockets for a Pokeball. She knew she had a couple on her person, but she had never actual used more than one, so she was a bit iffy on where exactly. Whiskas glanced back at Mirella. She sounded distracted, which could mean several things, but she was just moving her hands around on her clothes, and a thrill raced through his veins. How unlikely it would have been, he came to the realisation, she might be looking to catch the Surskit, he was keeping at bay. It was a change he wasn't fully prepared for, but she had been acting a bit off kilter lately, and the addition might be just the right medicin. Mirella hadn't said much since her loss, but he knew without her having to tell him, that she missed the ability to land a water type. The two had never explored the possibilities available on land. With more vigor Whiskas dug after more mud to throw around, and smiled to himself. It would be fun with a bit more friends too. Mirella's hand finally closed around a small ball, and she pulled it out with a "Yes!", enlargening it the next second. "Okay, I'm ready. Make space." She drew her arm back, enacting the same move as when she was throwing the line. She saw Whiskas pull back after another mud-slap in the air, and then she threw. (Ooc: Whiskas uses Mud-Slap 2 times, Mirella try out her throwing arm: -1 Pokeball)

With the intent to catch the bubble blowing Surskit, Mirella had her Barboach flinging mud at the bug Pokemon, and also have him to keep the Surskit from attacking her directly. While the Barboach was slower than the Surskit, he was quite good at wiggling his slimy body to fling mud at the opponent. The Surskit was looking muddier and dirtier than when they had first encountered each other. The Surskit, on the other hand, was having a tough time with its vision. It could see the Barboach sometimes when it blinks, but the mud and dirt was in its vision. Blowing a few bubbles and crawling at the direction of Whiskas, the Surskit did finally managed to have a some of the Bubble hitting the muddy opponent. When she was readied, she got a Pokeball on her hand and tossed it toward the bug type. The bug was warped into the sphere in a flash of light, disappearing as it struggled against the capture. The blinking Pokeball rocked to the right. Then the left. And a bit to the right. POP! Unfortunately for Mirella, the water and bug Pokemon fought through the device. Fortunately for Surskit, it wasn't going down yet! It blew another bubble at the Whiskas as a revenge for being warped into such strange Pokeball.

Day one: Forest walk (Route 102) Mirella tightened her hand into a fist, when the Surskit escaped her Pokeball and broke it in the process. She gnawed on her lip for a millisecond, regretting the wasted ball, as she couldn't help but worry about the money it had cost her. She was acutely aware she didn't have a job anymore. She had other concerns however, like the fact that Whiskas was starting to look sluggish. Resolutely Mirella withdrew a potion from another pocket. She was much more familiar with this procedure, as she often had to help him held out through a battle. She applied the medicin with a practised hand, and encouraged him in a whisper, while she kept half an eye on the Surskit. It had stayed for this long, and it still maintained its fighting spirit, so maybe it wouldn't make much of a difference to struggle on. "Just one more Mud-Slap, Whiskas. It must be getting tired too." she said, and pulled away to give him room. Though he had to fight through new waves of bubbles in the air, Whiskas was making use of the boost in energy and got more Mud moving too. For a moment he felt insecure though. Had Mirella given up on getting Surskit to their team? No, she was just making sure Surskit would be even more tired, when she threw her next Pokeball in the air. It passed right above his head in the direction of the Surskit, and Mirella wasn't the only one awaiting the click with apprehension. (Ooc: Mirella uses a Potion, Whiskas uses Mud-Slap, and finish up with another Pokeball.)

With a potion on hand, the new trainer aided her Pokemon by helping Whiskas recover the stamina lost from the Surskit's endless bubbles. After being treated, the Surskit had tried for another bubble attack, but hilariously, it was off by 45 degrees, so much that it completely missed the slimy Pokemon. After being reinvigorated by the human, Whiskas was wiggling quite energetically again. Wiggling a little as a warm up, the water/ground type once again flung another Mud-Slap at the Surskit, which was the final attack to knock the bug type out. With the bug type fainted, Mirella took her opportunity to capture the opponent, and Surskit was warped inside the device. The ball didn't even shook once before a successful Ding! It was too tired to even struggle. Then the Pokemon was captured. If Mirella would like to stay in this route, she could, or perhaps travel to other routes to pursue other goals as well.

Day one: Forest walk (Route 102) The ding was a sound Mirella had only ever registreret that one time, when she was eleven. It was nostalgic and novel at the same time, and the remembered thrill of getting her first Pokemon made her smile. Then the thought ran through her, that she had actually both encountered and caught a water Pokemon without any rod, and a "Yes!" erupted unbidden from her mouth, as she clenched a hand tight and stomped the ground a few times in celebration. Whiskas did his own little dance, and finally Mirella went and gathered the new ball. She was a bit unsure, if she should check up on it immediately. It had looked terrible tired. She rubbed the Pokeball with a thumb, and started walking again, not really paying attention to where she set her feet. She did remember to call Whiskas back though. That was an entirely automatic action drilled into her backbone, after more than ten years with a Pokemon that moved very little on land. Absentminded, she found a space to sit down here in the forest path, and she called the Surskit out. They looked at each other for a moment, and then Mirella didn't do much else, the Surskit started blowing small bubbles into the air. Mirella reached out, and managed to pop a few, before she made it to the Surskit's head, which she gave a gently pat. "You are part bug, right? I think, I'll do like my father, and name you after some fishing gear. Your name can be Fly." The Surskit didn't protest, and Mirella took it as agreement. Mirella sighed, the adrenaline of the capture having run its course. She felt heavy and unsure again, and she tried to shake it off by getting to her feet once more. "I'm taking a walk today," she told the newly named Fly "Would you want to walk with me, or do you want to go back in the ball?" The Surskit skirted a few steps out on the path, and Mirella understood. She followed suit, letting the Surskit show her around its home. Feeling excitement after the ding, the fisherman was reminiscing the first time that she had caught a Pokemon, which would be Whiskas itself. She was peaceful for a moment, and then found a space for her to talk with her newly captured Pokemon, a young Surskit. The bug seemed to have a knack for enjoying blowing bubbles, interestingly. It was as if it blows bubble for fun and as a defense. After giving a meaningful name to the bug type, the two finally got off their feet and continued walking again, exploring more of this route 102. After walking for a while, they encountered a casual Wurmple who was just also taking a walk with its multiple legs. It had more legs than Surksit and Mirella combined, and it had the courage of a Tyrannitar, looking up at Surskit and the human directly in the eyes. Sure, humans were a common sight around here. After checking out Fly, the Wurmple stared straight at the human, wondering if it would do anything. If not for fifteen seconds, it would continue crawling like nothing happened and be going on its merry way.

Day one: Forest walk (Route 102) Fly skirted the grassy path after making it nice and wet with her bubbles. It could almost compare to a lake's surface. Mirella trailed in the water bug's path, not minding the water splashing at her toes and ankle. Apart from the splashing sound, they walked in silence. When the Wurmple crossed their path, Mirella took one look at it, gave a nod and went on her way. It didn't look particular aggressive. Actually it's expression reminded her of one of those she could let back in the water without any fight. She saw no reason to instigate anything with it. Fly had held back in anticipation, but when Mirella just continued, she gave the Wurmple a wave with one of her legs in greeding, and followed suit. Caddis on the other hand had different plans. Mirella's ball containing the red lobster quivered and almost sprang open. "Hey!" Mirella shouted, but it was too late. Caddis jumped forward, a river of bubbles bursting from her mouth. Mirella growled in frustration. "You are not being nice." She scolded "That Wurmple has done nothing to deserve such treatment." She forced her back in her ball, and clenched her fingers tight around it, so she wouldn't just jump out again. Then she let Whiskas take Caddis' place with a sigh. She could do no else, in case the Wurmple was already retaliating. "Mud-Slap," she said weakly. Maybe they could sneak off, if the Wurmple got blinded enough... (Ooc: Caddis uses Bubble, Whiskas changes in, and uses Mud-Slap)

Even though Mirella had no intention to battle this Wurmple and let the insect carry along its way, the Corphish inside the Pokeball did not. Bursting the ball open and facing the opponent right away, crustacean Pokemon took this opportunity to fired a series of bubbles at the opponent, making the Wurmple stunned in surprise. Suddenly feeling wet from the bubbles bursting and splashing over, the bug type was changed from nonchalant to energetic. The angry bug fired a volley of thin poisonous barbs at the crustacean, hoping to poison the aggressive foe for such offense. Thankfully though, the human had swapped out the Corphish for the Barboach. Well, but now the Wurmple can't just quit this battle midway. It's got so much energy now! Look at the way it moved its multiple legs! It dashed forward to give the Whiskas a tackle, but the partial ground type was quite slimy that even the Wurmple made a disgusted look, and hurried away to back off this slimy fishy. Said slimy fish listened to his human's order, and flung the usual pile of mud at the opponent. The Wurmple shook its head animatedly and spat out some yucky mud, making a face that looked like it could vomit. Blargh. It then shot a String Shot at the Barboach in retaliation, hoping to catch this slimy fish with its string shot or something.
