"I am writing notes before I go back to class tomorrow. See, the Shroomish was given to me for graduating last year, but I also need to study very hard if I want to be a Pokemon school teacher! But I am very bad at my grades so I don't know if teacher is a good path for me. Maybe I can be a daycare for toddlers when parents go to work when I grow up? My shroomish can still help entertain kids! My friends and I were always playing with our Pokemon after school!" Karen responded why she was writing her notes, as well as why she was in school as well as dreams and aspirations. Then, she mumbled the word "Dragon Dance" and also wrote down on her notebook, with a crude drawing of Corphish and a better drawing of Shrooish, probably because she drew Shroomish so many times already. "So... you're gonna keep using Corphish even though he's paralyzed? Ok, Shroomish, use Tackle again and again!" Karen sounded a bit confused by Mirella's decision, since usually her opponents would cry when their Pokemon was paralyzed, but that was in school when most everyone have either one or two Pokemon in total. Struggling through the paralysis, Caddis tried hard and was unable to use Dragon Dance again. The young mushroom Pokemon took this opportunity to attack the water type with its small body, slamming onto her again and again. She panted, obviously angry at the fact that she can't move and have a mushroom attacking it. Karen smiled and cheered, once again glad that her Shroomish was doing great in battle. She was so close, but she's nowhere as good as the top trainers in her class, let alone the entire school.

Day one: Forest walk (Route 102) Mirella felt her stomach squirm uncomfortable, as Caddis struggled and her obvious anger grew. For all appearances she seemed calm enough, but Karen's words felt damning on Mirella, who just nodded along. The girl couldn't know, that Mirella's options were very limited. Either Caddis pulled through, or Mirella lost. Mirella wouldn't mind a loss, if it wasn't for the fact Caddis seemed fiercely against it. Feeling quite on edge, and trying to pay attention to Karen's story at the same time, she snuck a healing item in hand just in case. The way things were going, Caddis could need it soon. So she watched Caddis, and held her breath waiting. She would be ready. Caddis' anger burned through her body, as hot and red as her tough shell. She was furious she hadn't been able to move and do her dance steps properly. The human had given Caddis the freedom to choose her own strategy in this, and now she couldn't even exploit it! With an effort she forced a pincher closed with a sharp snap. She had no patience left. She wanted to hit the Shroomish and its annoying spores back into the ball it had come from, teach it a lesson. Whether her body wanted it or not, Caddis this time went for a crushing blow with her pinchers. (Ooc: Caddish uses Vice Grip. Wordcount: 221)

Running low on patience and high on anger, the fierce Caddis finally managed to breakthrough the paralysis and snap his pincers menacingly. While Karen was too busy taking notes for each round of battle, she hollered out cheerfully to tell her Pokemon to use a Tackle. The stubby Shroomish dashed forward, crying determinedly as its little feet got closed toward the Corphish. When it was close, it jumped and slammed onto the Corphish. However, the red crustacean wasn't ready to be out for the count yet. Seizing this opportunity of proximity between the two Pokemon, Caddis struck back by slicing the Shroomish with her pincers. After having struck with paralysis and unable to perform her little energetic dance, Caddis was finally able to retaliate with an attack of her own. She cried happily that she was finally able to land a hit. "Wow, that was great! I didn't expect your Corphish to able to attack! I thought your Pokemon was paralyzed!" She exclaimed, sounding surprise. Maybe she confused human paralysis with that of Pokemon's state of paralysis.

Day one: Forest walk (Route 102) Mirella breathed in, when Caddis finally managed to land a hit, but now she definitely looked in need of healing. Mirella didn't dare to draw it out any longer. She left Karen's side shortly to administer the potion she had prepared. This at least she knew how to do, having had to help out Whiskas often through the years. "There you go," she whispered to the still angry looking Corphish. "I'm sorry, I can't help you more." That done, she returned to Karen's side with a sigh. Karen had expressed her surprise earlier, and Mirella thought for a moment. "A paralyzed Pokemon is only slowed down and hindered somewhat. They still have good chances to move despite of it." Admittedly, the chances always felt worse than they actually were. Mirella hoped luck was on her side for this one. Caddis had to use a moment to let the potion take effect. She ignored Mirella's words completely, as they didn't mean anything. Even though she had managed to hurt the Shroomish back, she wasn't satisfied before the thing stopped completely. Time was against her, she felt. Caddis wasn't unfamiliar with getting healed in battle, but usually it was only done for the last stretch of a particular long one. Caddis felt like, she had barely begun this one, and if the human's help had already been necessary, her chances seemed bad. Caddis couldn't have that on her. The Shroomish needed to go down. Waiting a bit impatiently, the potion's effect took a couple seconds to run through her body, recovering the Corphish's weakened body back to full strength. Besides the fact the paralysis was still in effect, Caddis at least now feel like she could stay longer in the battle to knock this evil mushroom out. Karen ordered her Shroomish for a Tackle, and then wrote down the battle being extended by the potion. As the Shroomish went forward again, Caddis faced the opponent with a tough and mean expression, that the Tackle was just merely bothersome. Fighting through the dreaded paralysis, Caddis crawled forward with her many legs and got close to the Shroomish. However, before she could attack, Karen interrupted with her own command, "Shroomish, now it's your chance to use Leech Seed!" The grass type fired out a brown seed where the stun spore was released last time, and then the seed exploded on the water type, wrapping around her with equally brown and evil vines. The attack was strange, but Caddis continued and went forward to slice the opponent with her pincer, and then the vines sapped some health out of her, moving in the air as some bright green energy went back toward Shroomish. So that's what the "leech" part of that attack meant.

Day one: Forest walk (Route 102) Mirella felt faint. The battle was dragging on longer than she had anticipated, and didn't look to be ending soon. To her the Shroomish still looked as spirited, as when it had first appeared from its ball, which was pretty disheartening. However, Caddis didn't look like she would appriciate it, if Mirella threw in the towel, so Mirella held still, and pretended to be interested in Karen's notes about it all. Mirella had never been much a battler, and hadn't had that much interest in that particular subject, but maybe she should pick up some lessons, if she was going on a longer travel soon. It was one of her options, if it wasn't her only one. At least Karen didn't seem to mind, that Mirella had used a potion, so that was a comfort. "What will you need to know about pokemon battles to become a school teacher?" She asked. She truely didn't remember much of what school had taught her in that regard. Caddis huffed and puffed at the new hindrance Shroomish put in her way. The draining seeds might not have taken much, but in the end it could amount into more and disaster, and Caddis was starting to tire from fighting the paralysis all the time. The question was what prevailed, Caddis anger or the incoming tiredness? None-the-less Caddis tried to grip after the Shroomish once more. (Ooc: Caddish tries another Vice Grip. Wordcount: 231)

Karen thought about the question for a couple of seconds before replying. "Hmm, pretty much everything about Pokemon! In elementary school we learned about basic math, language, science, and then things that kids should know. Like counting change and not mixing water and electricity, heehee. We also learned about local Pokemon that are available around Rustboro City. Then we start to learn the rest of the Hoenn Pokemon and the world's Pokemon in our studies, as well as things like higher level language, math, and science. Then in high school we can learn about starting different businesses if we want, or become various jobs like fire department or media. But I'm good with being a teacher. Oh, in high school we also learn about advanced Pokemon battling too! Right now we're just learning the basic of Pokemon moves and status." She explained, wiggling her pencil and tapping her head as she thought about what would it takes to be a teacher. Then, she shifted her focus back into the Pokemon battle and ordered her Shroomish to use another Tackle. The two Pokemon clashed again as the Corphish seemed to broke free of the paralysis for this turn. However, Karen was alright with this because the leech seed sapped health right back into her Shroomish.

Day one: Forest walk (Route 102) Mirella really made an effort to listen to Karen's spiel, though she was unsure if she was even answering her question. It was a lot of information, but at the same time it sounded like she only touched the surface. "Have you decided on a major to teach in? Anything you are particular good at?" She asked next, when Karen paused. The girl was young, but since she already knew she wanted to be a teacher, Mirella saw no reason she couldn't have thought about a major yet. Even if Mirella herself hadn't known what she wanted at that age. Of course, their conversation was halted temporarily by the battling. Caddis looked bad again, and Mirella still didn't have the heart to end it prematurely. The paralysis, and now Leech Seed was turning out to be a real menace. Another potion was needed, and Mirella helped the Corphish with burning cheeks. It was getting kind of embarrassing. "Sorry for cheating like this, Karen. I only just got Caddis today, and she haven't had the chance to really show off yet. We are still getting to know each other." she explained, hoping it was still alright with the girl. She hadn't seemed bothered so far. Caddis was working as fiercely as ever, struggling with twitching muscles. Forgotten was everything else but keep trying to hit the Shroomish. Only faintly did she feel the unease about needing the help of the human to even keep standing. (Ooc: Potion used, Caddish tries Vice Grip. Wordcount: 242)

Karen was a bit startled by the question about what to teach in. While technically it was too early for her age to decide what to teach in, she have some ideas. "Well I like reading stories so maybe English, but I also like sciences so maybe one of the sciences.... Hm... I don't know!" She giggled, wasn't sure what was going on. As the battle continued, it seemed that Caddis was struggling from the mixture of paralysis and leech seed. Even though the poor Corphish was new on Mirella's team, the Pokemon's pride was taking a bit of a blow from such a tough grass type. Though with her eyes mostly glued to the notebook, she could mostly hear the sound of the Pokemon clashing, and she thought that the Corphish had fought through the paralysis or Mirella cured the crustacean Pokemon from the status while she wasn't paying attention. "Oh, it's okay. I had Shroomish only for a few months. Okay, you can do it, use Stun Spore and Tackle!" She ordered, and then resumed making more notes, flipping to another page and then back and forth the pages to remember what she was writing down. The battle went on, but this time Shroomish was frustrated because the Stun Spore actually did nothing as the Corphish was actually still paralyzed. The two Pokemon clashed again, continuing their long battle.

Day one: Forest walk (Route 102) Mirella listened and watched. However much she tried to pay attention to both battle and conversation, it was like her mind continuously tried to wander elsewhere. She heard Karen ask for another Stun Spore, but didn't think much about it. She nodded pleasently, satisfied with the girl's answer to her question, and tried to think up what else to say to keep the talk going. Then a thought hit her, and she asked: "Any plans to take a Pokemon journey before becoming a teacher? Or any journey?" Mirella vaguely remembered the talk of her own class mates in school. The glorious Pokemon Journey had always been a hot topic, and by the talk of it almost half of the class wanted to make the trip at the time. She wondered if that was still the case in school today, and then she wondered if she should make a journey like it herself. She knew she was planning to leave Petalburg, she just wasn't sure when, why, or where she would go other than to visit her father first off. It was all very undetermined and a bit scary. No wonder her mind kept wandering. She completely forgot to keep and eye on Caddis. Caddis didn't care whether Mirella said anything or not. She was doing this on her own, and her success with her pinchers raised her spirit slightly. So she kept working them in an effort to take the Shroomish down, before she herself had to succumb to the drain of energy. "Journey? Like a Pokemon Trainer Journey?" She answered, a bit flustered from the question. While she did wanted to travel before settling down in a school to teach, going on a journey just wasn't her thing. "Well, I do want to hike up Mt. Chimney, travel to Lilycove City and Slateport City too! But I don't thiknk I am competitive enough to be a Pokemon Trainer haha." That was her answer, as she didn't know even what to teach. "You? Did you do any journey?" Asked the curious girl, who thought Mirella had finished her journey or something. After Mirella's order, the battle continued, but Karen didn't say anything yet and just let the two Pokemon fought. Shroomish defended itself by dodging while letting Leech Seed do the work, slowly draining the Corphish's health. Then, when she was finally done her catch up note taking on this high paced battle, she looked up with full attention and called her Shroomish to used Absorb. A green glow of light immediately drained energy from the Corphish, and on top of the Vice Grip, Caddis was passed out from the attack. "Aww...... Your Corphish was doing great.... Sorry I fainted your Pokemon," Karen commented, but also felt accomplished that it's been 60 days since she fainted someone's Pokemon.

Day one: Forest walk (Route 102) Mirella's effort to try and stay calm in the face of her Pokemon's disadvantage resulted in what happened next. She was busy hearing Karen out, and pay attention to the conversation, thereby missing when Caddis needed her help again. And Caddis was too proud to even admit she did, so didn't call on the trainers' attention. "No," Mirella was saying, answering Karen's question back truthfully "I moved from Rustboro to Petalburg for a job, and never got further, but I'm thinking about taking a trip soon. I want to travel all the water ways in Hoenn" Mirella only just realized her want as she said it, and she paused momentarily to process it properly. "I hope you don't need to be competetive to make it a Pokemon Journey. I'll have to earn money while travelling, or I'll never get anywhere." She said halfway to herself. "I guess anywhere in Hoenn is worth checking out at least once. It sounds like lovely places, you've picked. I hope you make it someday." She returned fully to Karen's topic, and tried to encourage her, maybe a tad awkward. Meanwhile, Karen discovered what happened in the battle, and Mirella turned horrified to the scene. She gasped, and then took a big breath to stay calm. She called back Caddis. "It's fine. Caddis was at a rather big disadvantage." She accepted the girl's apology, and was ready to throw in the towel, then Fly showed up out of nowhere, and whined at the still standing Shroomish, before setting in an attack faster than the eye. "Oh! Eh, it seems Fly want to have a go?" Mirella almost regretted sounding as unsure as she did, but she really was new at this, and it took time adjusting to the rapid changes of a battle she had thought over. "How long does a battle usually last?" She asked Karen, trying to adjust her expectations better. (Ooc: Fly uses Quick Attackx2. Wordcount: 318)

"Some of my friends have already been to those places, and they sounded lovely from what they said. I can't wait to visit those places!" Karen grinned, smiling happily now, thinking about her friends. She heard Mirella's comment, and then apologized again for fainting her Pokemon. Being not a top stellar student, this situation was a little awkward for her as well. She smiled sheepishly and then greeted the Surskit as she began drawing the Surskit into her notebook again. This will be an interesting one to tell at school. "Do you mean a Pokemon battle with me or in general? Most of the times my battles are between short and medium as Shroomish have been good at fighting other Pokemon. But if someone send out a Taillow or Vulpix I would lose really fast, ha," she chuckled at her embarrassing defeat, if only she could win against a Taillow someday. Then, seeing the Surskit was moving, she ordered her Shroomish for a Stun Spore and a tackle. Unfortunately, her Shroomish did got hit, and the speedy Surskit moved fast enough for the Stun spore to be ineffective. The grass type did managed to followed up with a Tackle before the Surskit dashed away after hitting. It looked like the Shroomish was at the end of its health.

Day one: Forest walk (Route 102) "I was thinking in general," Mirella responded, and tried to figure out what Karen's answer would mean for the current battle and future ones. "So a battle continues until one has no Pokemon left, or gives up?" she asked to clarify if she understood it correctly. It had been a long time since she had done anything else but defend herself and Whiskas from wild Pokemon. She hadn't even followed any of the leagues or competitions on the television for years. "Go on with what you're doing, Fly. It looks to be working fine." She told Fly off-handed, for once seeing an end to it. Encouragement successful, she went on to Karen "Well, you picked right with me, I don't have any birds or fire types to tear down your Shroomish quickly."Fly took a big breath before skipping around again for another attack. For once she held back her bubbles as she instinctively knew they wouldn't be of much use against the grass type. She had kept an eye on Caddis' struggle, while pretending to be engrossed in the act of skirting the water. She had really hoped that Caddis would pull through and make it on her own, but Fly was ready to step in when needed. It wasn't because she liked the Corphish. She just couldn't stand back and let the Shroomish get away with tramping all over a fellow. Should it turn out the other girl had more Pokemon coming after the Shroomish, Fly could always redeem the lack of Bubbles now, and make them erupt with a vengeance at the next one. Pondering the answer to Mirella's question, Karen tapped her pen to her chin as she tilted her head to the sky and wondering the answer. "Hmm... I think my teacher said the fastest could be five minutes if a Pokemon don't get knocked out in one second, haha." She chuckled, "And then the average length of a trainer battle would be like maybe ten to twenty minutes? depending on how many Pokemon each person have and how skilled they are. Because Pokemon eventually will tire each other out from attacking back and forth." Then, hearing that Mirella don't have a fire or flying type, Karen smiled with a small hope that she could still win. Thankfully she didn't tell the adult about losing to a Machop. The Surskiy's feet were quite small as she skidded across the water, and making the Quick Attack very sneaky. Soon, the Shroomish passed out before Karen remembered to call her attack. "You did great, Shroomish! You were able to hold off the Corphish! Have a great rest! Now, come on out, Whismur!" She thanked her fighter Pokemon and sent out another one that she got recently, whom she's still trying to understand the strength of this normal type Pokemon, as her Shroomish was her main fighter Pokemon to take care most Pokemon battles. "Use Howl and then Pound, Whismur! "
The two Pokemon greeted each other, and Fly fired a volley of bubbles while the Whismur, although looked shy and quiet, raised a loud howl. It sounded like the normal type was calling for some giant speaker reinforcement, if only. Now the two were off to a good start. Then, Fly fired another volley of bubbles while the Whismur came forward and pounded the bug with its floppy ears.
